Vijayawada, October 2026: Chief Minister of Mizoram, Shri Lalduhoma, today attended the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Bible Society of India, Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary, as the Chief Guest at SS Convention Hall, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He also unveiled the Jubilee monument.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the Christians of Andhra Pradesh on behalf of the people of Mizoram. He said that the Bible Society of India’s Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary completing 75 years of dedicated service was a testament to God’s goodness and the faithfulness of believers in the state.

The Chief Minister said that the Bible brought light to Mizoram and had been a source not only of faith but also of education, good social values, selfless service, unity and cooperation. He added that the Bible teaches people how to live as responsible and good citizens. When people read the Bible and allow its teachings to guide their lives, they are encouraged to become better citizens.

He highlighted the close cooperation between the Government of Mizoram, the churches and the Aizawl Auxiliary of the Bible Society of India. He recalled that he had inaugurated the Bible House in Aizawl on 25 November last year, for the construction of which the State Government had contributed ₹4.07 crore. Rev. Dr. Leelavati Vemuri, President of the Bible Society of India, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, had also attended the inauguration.

The Chief Minister said he had learned about the strong collaboration among churches in Andhra Pradesh through the Bible Society. He commended the Auxiliary for its significant contribution to Bible distribution, noting that it was among the leading Bible-selling auxiliaries in India and that the Telugu Bible was one of the best-selling Bible editions in the country and among the top ten worldwide.

He also appreciated the Auxiliary for extending its service beyond Bible distribution. In particular, he acknowledged its contribution of ₹17 lakh towards helping the people of Manipur during their time of hardship, as well as the members’ personal visit to provide assistance and comfort to those affected. He described these acts of compassion and solidarity as commendable.

The Chief Minister encouraged the Auxiliary to continue its good work and to help nurture future generations into faithful Christians and responsible citizens. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who had contributed to the Auxiliary’s 75 years of service and urged them not to rest on past achievements but to continue preparing for greater progress in the years ahead.

The Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary has consistently been one of the largest contributors to the Bible Society of India after the Aizawl Auxiliary. The current President of the Bible Society of India, Rev. Dr. Leelavati Vemuri, is from Andhra Pradesh. The Telugu Bible is among the best-selling Bible editions in India and ranks among the top ten worldwide.

The programme was also addressed by Rev. Dr. Leelavati Vemuri, President of the Bible Society of India; Bishop K. Pratap Sinha, President of the Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary; and other leaders of the Bible Society of India.
