Corporate Sector Steps Up Support for Waste Management Following CM Dhami’s Appeal
Nestlé India Provides Seven Electric Waste Collection Vehicles Under CSR Initiative
Khatima, Sept 2026 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday flagged off 15 vehicles in Khatima to strengthen solid and liquid waste management in the area. The fleet includes seven electric waste collection vehicles provided by Nestlé India under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Nestlé India has provided one electric waste collection vehicle each for Dharampur, Chhatarpur, Bindukhera (Fauji Matkota), Kiratpur, Bagwala, Danpur and Nagla Tarai. On the occasion, Britannia also provided health and nutrition-related materials.
Chief Minister Dhami said the state government was continuously working to strengthen sanitation systems in rural and urban areas and promote environmental conservation. He said modern resources, public participation and support from the corporate sector have an important role to play in improving solid and liquid waste management.
Dhami said the self-sustaining model being developed at the gram panchayat level would help make sanitation systems more effective. He said the government was working to make the collection and disposal of waste across the state more systematic and efficient.
Chief Development Officer Divesh Sasani said that, under the direction of the District Magistrate, an action plan for solid and liquid waste management has been prepared for 373 gram panchayats in Udham Singh Nagar district through 71 clusters.
He said Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have also been signed with the concerned urban local bodies for regular collection and disposal of waste in rural areas adjoining municipal bodies and in major local markets.
According to Sasani, a fleet of 231 vehicles has been prepared for waste management in the district. It includes 134 e-rickshaws and 75 tractor-trolleys provided under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), along with vehicles made available through CSR initiatives and other schemes.
He added that compactors are also being operated by the Zila Panchayat in various development blocks to improve waste management and disposal.
District Panchayat Chairman Ajay Maurya, Mayor Vikas Sharma, Block Pramukh Reena Gautam, District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria, SSP Ajay Ganpati, Chief Development Officer Divesh Sasani, Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister and Member Secretary, CSR, Manmohan Mainali, and Nestlé India’s Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Kunwar Himmat Singh, were among those present on the occasion, along with other public representatives and officials.
