Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is rich in natural and mineral resources. Scientific, transparent and environmentally sustainable utilisation of these resources is playing an important role in accelerating the state’s economic growth. He said that mineral policies should focus not only on increasing revenue but also on expanding opportunities for employment, investment and local development. The state government is working to achieve these objectives.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed the departmental activities and the proposed State Mineral Exploration Policy 2026 at a meeting of the Mineral Resources Department held at Mantralaya on Thursday. Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Neeraj Mandloi, Additional Chief Secretary Manish Rastogi and senior officers of the Mineral Resources Department were present at the meeting.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh’s mineral wealth is an important asset for the state’s development. These natural resources should be utilised in a manner that ensures transparency and environmental balance while generating revenue for the state, promoting investment and creating new employment opportunities at the local level. Regarding the proposed policy, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Singrauli, a district endowed with abundant mineral resources, should be developed as a model district in the areas of education, health, women and child welfare, agriculture, forests, environment, road infrastructure and watershed development through effective utilisation of District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the maximum possible benefits generated from mineral resources should be channelled towards public welfare. Efforts should be made to make Madhya Pradesh a leading state in the country’s mining sector while maintaining a balance between development and environmental protection. The meeting also discussed various issues related to mineral resources. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav approved the proposed State Mineral Exploration Policy 2026 and directed officials to ensure its effective implementation in the interest of the people of the state.
In a presentation on the policy, Principal Secretary, Mineral Resources, Vivek Porwal said that efforts are being made to increase revenue from mineral resources through various initiatives. He said that the proposed mineral policy has set a target of increasing revenue from mineral resources to ₹13,720 crore by the end of FY 2026-27 and to ₹30,000 crore by the end of FY 2030-31. He informed that by the end of August 2026, the state had already achieved 106 per cent of the annual mineral revenue target for the current financial year 2026-27.
The state’s highest mineral revenues are generated from ten districts—Singrauli, Anuppur, Shahdol, Katni, Balaghat, Satna, Jabalpur, Chhindwara, Umaria and Betul. As of the end of July 2026, DMF funds amounting to ₹3,147.10 crore were available in these ten districts during the current financial year, with Singrauli making the highest contribution. The total DMF funds available across all 55 districts stood at ₹3,574.53 crore.
