Holds Detailed Discussions on Legislative Council Proceedings
Mumbai, October 2026: Maharashtra Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Sachin Ahir is currently on a two-day visit to Karnataka. On the first day of his visit, he toured the Karnataka Legislative Building.
As part of the study tour organised to understand the functioning of the Karnataka Legislative Council, Ahir paid courtesy visits to Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman Salim Ahmed and Deputy Chairperson Umashree. During the meetings, he obtained detailed information about the Council’s functioning and held discussions on various issues.
Maharashtra has successfully implemented a dashboard system to facilitate the legislative work of members of both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council. Drawing on this experience, Ahir proposed that the Karnataka government introduce a similar modern dashboard system in the state.
The Karnataka government indicated that it would consider the proposal positively.
To further strengthen cordial relations between the two states’ legislatures, Ahir also extended a formal invitation to the Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman and Deputy Chairperson to visit the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan.
During his Karnataka visit, Ahir also paid a courtesy visit to state Health and Family Welfare Minister U. T. Khader. The meeting featured detailed discussions on various healthcare initiatives and issues concerning public welfare.
Dr Vilas Athawale, Secretary III of the Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat, accompanied Ahir during the study tour.
