Lucknow, September 2026 : Under the Shudh Hi Shubh Hain campaign, teams from the food safety department carried out extensive inspections of hotels, restaurants and other food establishments across six districts of the state.
During the campaign, 52 establishments were inspected in Kanpur Nagar, 40 in Prayagraj, 97 in Ayodhya, 34 in Bareilly, 34 in Gorakhpur and 60 in Moradabad. These included hotels, restaurants and standalone restaurants.
The inspections examined hygiene and cleanliness, the quality of raw food materials, food storage, kitchen and processing areas, drainage systems, cleaning arrangements, the presence of insects and rodents, and whether vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items were kept separately. According to the departmental report, license suspension and other legal action has been recommended against 24 more establishments. In addition, 174 establishments have been issued improvement notices to rectify the deficiencies.
Kanpur Nagar: Serious quality were found in five establishments. Business has been shut down at Kake Ki Hatti Restaurant, Mall Road; M/s Anand Saffron Hotel, Harsh Nagar; The Dining House, Awas-Vikas Kalyanpur; Revant Hospitality Private Limited–Little Chef, Civil Lines; and M/s Al Sameem Food Court, Jajmau. Hygiene conditions were extremely poor at all these locations.
Prayagraj: Numerous issues were found here in the kitchen and drainage systems. Action has been taken against Urban Residency Hotel, Katju Road; Shambhunath Hotel & Banquet, Hastings Road; and Triveni Alliance Triveni Grand, Transport Nagar.
Gorakhpur: During the inspection, major quality issues in hygiene and food storage were found at hotels in the city. Licenses have been suspended for Radisson Hotel, Mohaddipur; Ramakrishna Hotel, Bypass Road; The Brian Flavours Inn Restaurant; Chandan Sweet House; and Dularwa Restaurant, Kuda Ghat.
Ayodhya: Cases ranging from expired food materials to rat infestations came to light here. Action was taken against Tirupati Restaurant, Birla Dharamshala; Al Hind Restaurant, Mawai; I Am OK Restaurant, Gulabbadi; The Aroma Restaurant; Dalmia Saffron Hotel, First Floor; Raghunandan Bhawan; and SR Pictures/Tarang Cinema Mall.
Bareilly: During inspections in the city, establishments were found serving people everything from cockroaches to expired food items. Licenses have been suspended for Krishna Bhojanalaya, Station Road, and Ramada Hotel, Civil Lines.
Moradabad: Veg and non-veg items found together in freezers, and insects, rats found in kitchens during inspection. Action has been taken against well-known city hotels including Lawana NGR, T Point, Delhi Road; Time 24, Delhi Gate; and Moti Mahal Deluxe Hotel.
Department Issues Clear Warning
The Shudh Hi Shubh Hain campaign will continue going forward to ensure food establishments comply with standards such as hygiene, safe storage, quality of raw materials, pest control, drainage, and separate storage of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items.
