Roads spanning 30.70 km to be constructed at a cost of around Rs 8.48 crore, improving connectivity for villagers, farmers and students
Raipur, September 2026: Two important road construction projects in Chhattisgarh’s Surajpur district have received budgetary approval following the efforts of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister and Bhatgaon MLA Laxmi Rajwade.
According to the approved budget, a total of around Rs 8 crore 48 lakh 28 thousand has been allocated for the construction of the two roads, which together will cover 30.70 kilometres.
Of the total allocation, Rs 5 crore 8 lakh 98 thousand has been sanctioned for the construction of a 17.50-kilometre road from Kharra to Chikni Bhandarpara. Another Rs 3 crore 39 lakh 30 thousand has been approved for a 13.20-kilometre road connecting Kunj Nagar to Jamdei Patelpara.
Minister Rajwade said better road connectivity forms the foundation of rural development. She said improved road links would make it easier for villagers to access essential facilities related to education, healthcare, markets and employment.
She said continuous efforts were being made to expand road connectivity and other basic infrastructure across Surajpur district, including the Bhatgaon Assembly constituency.
Once both road projects are completed, connectivity between the concerned villages and major routes is expected to improve significantly. The projects will make daily travel more convenient for villagers and provide better access for farmers transporting agricultural produce and students travelling to educational institutions.
The road projects are also expected to strengthen connectivity between rural settlements and nearby markets and service centres, thereby facilitating access to essential services and economic opportunities.
The budgetary approval for the two projects is being viewed as an important step towards improving basic infrastructure in the district and addressing the connectivity requirements of rural communities.
