Mumbai, August 2026 : In view of the growing competition in changing times, it is essential to nurture students’ mental health alongside their academic excellence, Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare said. She stressed the need to make students understand that success and failure are an inseparable part of life.
A ration-kit distribution programme for needy parents was organised at Saif Tayyabji Girls High School and Junior College, run by Anjuman-e-Islam, as part of a social initiative jointly organised by the World Memon Organisation (WMO) India and the Yama Patel Foundation. Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare was the chief guest at the event.
Padma Shri Dr. Zaheer I. Kazi, President of Anjuman-e-Islam; Amina Kazi, Principal of Saif Tayyabji Girls High School and Junior College; Mushtaq Antule, Senior Vice President of Anjuman-e-Islam; Haji Hasin Aghadi, President of the World Memon Organisation; Haji Muddassar Patel, Mumbai City President of WMO and the Yama Patel Foundation; Haji Imtiaz Motorwala, Naseen Maklai, Huria Patel and Mumtaz Perfumewala, along with office-bearers of the organisations, social workers and other dignitaries, were present on the occasion.
Minister Aditi Tatkare said Anjuman-e-Islam has been doing commendable work in the fields of education and social service. She said that in an era of rapid change and intense competition, providing the coming generation with appropriate education is one of the most important responsibilities.
“Along with academic excellence, it is equally necessary to strengthen the mental health of students,” Tatkare said. She also emphasised that everyone must work together to ensure access to education and basic facilities for children.
Padma Shri Dr. Zaheer I. Kazi highlighted the educational and social initiatives undertaken by Anjuman-e-Islam. He said the institution was established 152 years ago and had also contributed to India’s freedom struggle.
He said that alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, Anjuman-e-Islam is working on the broader concept of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Beti Basao’. The institution, he said, also takes responsibility for the education, marriage and rehabilitation of orphan girls.
The initiative, organised on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad, received an enthusiastic response from beneficiary families. Essential food grains were distributed to needy households, conveying a message of social responsibility and community support.
The organisers also appealed to social organisations to come forward and contribute to humanitarian service and assistance for underprivileged families. Teachers, students and parents attended the programme in large numbers.
