NEW DELHI, Aug 2026 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called out the Prime Minister and the Delhi Police controlled by his government for taking Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar from his residence early Tuesday morning and not disclosing his whereabouts or the reason for his abduction.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal asked the Prime Minister, “Where is our MLA Kuldeep Kumar? At 4 am on Tuesday morning, your Delhi Police picked up Kuldeep Kumar from his home, broke the CCTV cameras installed at his residence and took away the DVR. Now your police are not telling anyone anything about Kuldeep Kumar. If a sitting MLA can be picked up from his home by the police in this manner, without any information or reason, then where is the ‘aam aadmi’ supposed to go in this country? People will not tolerate such gundagardi.”
Meanwhile, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also hit out at the Prime Minister over the abduction and disappearance of MLA Kuldeep Kumar. He said-
“Modi Ji, what are you getting done in the national capital? You have got our Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar abducted. Since morning, Kuldeep Kumar’s family and Aam Aadmi Party karyakartas have been worried. We are asking where Kuldeep Kumar is. His only crime was that he demanded ₹1 crore in assistance for a sanitation worker who was killed while on duty. Is making such a demand such a big crime that the Prime Minister got Kuldeep Kumar abducted?”
Questioning the police over the matter, he continued, “The Police Commissioner and the DCP do not know where the MLA is at this moment. His family members and our party workers are worried. What does the Prime Minister want to get done? Because Kuldeep Kumar belongs to the Valmiki, Dalit and deprived communities, will the Prime Minister get him abducted and threaten an MLA?”
“Is it not an MLA’s job to raise the issues of the people of his constituency or community? I want to tell the Prime Minister to immediately find out where the MLA is and bring him before everyone. Bring him before his family because the people of his constituency, his family and everyone in our party are worried about where Kuldeep Kumar is at this moment,”he added.
In a post on X, Sanjay Singh stated, “Modi Ji, Delhi MLA Kuldeep Kumar has been abducted. Where are you? Kuldeep Kumar’s crime was that he demanded ₹1 crore in assistance after a sanitation worker deployed on duty was killed. Kuldeep Kumar, who belongs to the Valmiki community, is being harassed repeatedly because he is a Dalit. Sometimes he is dragged out of the Assembly, and sometimes he is abducted. Take cognisance of this matter, otherwise there will be a major movement.”
Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly Atishi also questioned the disappearance of Kuldeep Kumar. In a post on X, she said –
“Where is MLA Kuldeep Kumar? Modi Ji’s police picked him up at 4:30 am this morning and is not willing to tell us where he is. The Commissioner and Special Commissioner are not answering calls. At 2 pm, we are filing a habeas corpus petition in the Delhi High Court. Modi Ji, this country is governed not by your gundagardi, but by the Constitution.”
The country will not tolerate such arbitrariness and repression: Ankush Narang
Senior AAP leader and MCD House LoP, Ankush Narang, also questioned Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and the Delhi Police, asking where their MLA Kuldeep Kumar was. He said, “At around 4 am on Tuesday morning, the Delhi Police picked up our MLA Kuldeep Kumar from his home. The CCTV cameras were also broken and the DVR was taken away, but the BJP’s Delhi Police is still not willing to tell us where he has been taken or in which case.”
He added, “If such action can be taken against an elected MLA, then where should the aam aadmi go for his safety and rights? This is democracy, not police gundagardi. The country will not tolerate such arbitrariness and repression.”
