New Delhi, September 2026 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had allegedly hatched a conspiracy to trigger riots during Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s visit to Tilak Nagar, AAP national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda claimed on Tuesday.
Dhanda alleged that the BJP had deployed police personnel in plain clothes at the spot as part of the alleged conspiracy. He questioned why a policeman in plain clothes was present at the site when hundreds of uniformed personnel were deployed for security.
“If the BJP had not conspired to breach Arvind Kejriwal’s security and create riots, then what was a policeman in plain clothes doing there? If he was on duty, he should have been in uniform,” Dhanda said.
He further alleged that Delhi Police was now making false claims that AAP workers had manhandled the plainclothes policeman. Dhanda also criticised the police over the recent controversy involving Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma.
In a video shared on X on Tuesday, Dhanda said the BJP was facing criticism following the alleged slapping incident involving Verma and was now trying to divert attention from it. He claimed that although the incident had taken place on the road, Delhi Police had not registered an FIR against the minister, while it was now “planting” a new narrative.
Dhanda said that when Kejriwal visited Tilak Nagar on Monday, a large crowd had gathered at the site. According to him, Delhi Police was claiming that AAP workers had engaged in a scuffle with a policeman in plain clothes.
“I want to ask, when hundreds of police personnel in uniform were present there to maintain security, what was that policeman in plain clothes doing there?” Dhanda said.
He questioned whether the policeman had been deployed to create a disturbance or to compromise Kejriwal’s security.
“If he had come there to perform his duty, he should have been in uniform like the hundreds of other policemen present there. Were plainclothes personnel deliberately deployed to create a fight, spread riots or breach Arvind Kejriwal’s security?” he asked.
Dhanda further alleged that instead of registering cases against AAP workers, action should be taken against police officials if it was established that plainclothes personnel had been deployed to create unrest.
He said police officials were talking about registering cases against AAP workers, while, according to him, such cases were frequently filed against party workers.
“The question is why an FIR was not registered over the minister’s alleged act, while the Delhi Police is accused of deploying its personnel in plain clothes to disturb peace and create a riot-like situation,” Dhanda said.
The allegations come amid an ongoing political confrontation between the AAP and the BJP following Kejriwal’s Tilak Nagar visit and the controversy surrounding Verma. Delhi Police has received complaints from different sides in connection with the incidents.
