Jaipur, September 2026 : A voter awareness cycle rally was organised in Jaipur on Sunday to encourage citizens to actively participate in the upcoming urban local body elections and exercise their right to vote.
The rally was jointly organised by the District Election Office, Jaipur, and the Rajasthan Road Riders Cycling Club under the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) programme. The cyclists rode from Amar Jawan Jyoti at Janpath, near SMS Stadium, to Jal Mahal, spreading the message of voter awareness along the route.
The rally was flagged off from Amar Jawan Jyoti by Shubham Bhainsare, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Zila Parishad Jaipur, who is also in charge of the SVEEP programme. Bhainsare also participated in the cycling rally himself, conveying the importance of voting and encouraging citizens to take part in the electoral process.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhainsare said that just as cycling is important for maintaining physical health, voting is equally important for ensuring a healthy democracy. He urged citizens to recognise the importance of their vote and actively participate in the upcoming elections.
He said polling for 540 wards across two municipal councils and 16 municipalities in Jaipur district will be held on September 9, from 7 am to 6 pm. Voting for the 150 wards of Jaipur Municipal Corporation will take place on September 11, also from 7 am to 6 pm.
Bhainsare appealed to all eligible voters in the district to participate enthusiastically in what he described as a festival of democracy and exercise their constitutional right to vote. He said active voter participation would contribute to strengthening democratic institutions.
Several cyclists and representatives of civic and social organisations participated in the awareness drive. Those present included Dr GL Sharma, patron of Rajasthan Road Riders; Vijendra Singh Padla, president of the cycling club; Hemant Singh, Deputy Director, Public Relations; Dinkar Sharma, District Nodal SVEEP Coordinator; and Renu Jindal, coordinator of the Robin Hood Army, Jaipur, along with other cyclists.
The participants used the rally to spread awareness about the importance of voting and urged citizens to turn out in large numbers during the municipal elections.
