Raipur, September 2026 : Chhattisgarh’s ‘Har Ghar Munga-Ghar Ghar Munga’ campaign, which seeks to promote nutrition awareness through public participation, received national attention after Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the initiative during his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday.

The campaign encourages households to plant moringa trees and incorporate the nutrient-rich plant into their daily diets. It highlights how locally available resources can play an important role in addressing nutritional challenges at the community level.

Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade listened to the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme at Delhi airport. She said the Prime Minister’s mention of Chhattisgarh’s initiative was a matter of encouragement and inspiration for the state.

Rajwade said the recognition would motivate Anganwadi workers, mothers, self-help groups and others associated with nutrition programmes to expand their efforts. She added that nutrition awareness would be more effective when families incorporated locally available nutritious foods into their daily meals.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai had launched the ‘Har Ghar Munga-Ghar Ghar Munga’ campaign on September 12. The initiative aims to make moringa plants available in households and create awareness about their nutritional uses. Special attention is being given to the nutritional needs of women, children and adolescent girls.

Anganwadi centres are serving as a key channel for taking the campaign’s message to communities. Moringa, also known as drumstick or sahjan, is a familiar plant in Chhattisgarh and can be grown easily. Its leaves and pods are commonly used in food.

Moringa leaves contain nutrients such as iron, calcium and vitamins. The leaves can be used in saag and other local dishes, while the pods can be added to vegetables and lentils. In this way, families can increase dietary diversity by making better use of locally available food resources.

The campaign also emphasises that good nutrition does not depend on any single food item but on including a variety of nutritious foods in balanced quantities. Moringa can form one part of such a diverse diet. Planting a moringa tree at home or in the courtyard can also encourage families to use it regularly.

During Nutrition Month being observed across the state, Anganwadi centres are focusing on interaction with mothers and communities, demonstrations of locally available foods and awareness about balanced diets.

The ‘Har Ghar Munga-Ghar Ghar Munga’ campaign is being integrated with these activities to take the message of nutrition into the daily lives of families. Anganwadi workers are encouraging households to plant moringa, take care of the plants and use the available leaves and pods in their meals.

The initiative brings together tree plantation, nutrition education and community participation. Its central message is that active involvement of families and communities is essential in efforts to address malnutrition.

The Prime Minister’s mention of Chhattisgarh’s initiative in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has provided encouragement for further strengthening nutrition programmes based on locally available resources and community participation.
