CM Yogi Adityanath Directs Prompt Assistance; Rs 4 Lakh Compensation Provided Within 24 Hours
Lucknow, Sept 2026 : Amid heavy rains and natural disasters in Uttar Pradesh, relief assistance is being provided promptly to affected families following the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Agriculture Minister and district in-charge minister Surya Pratap Shahi visited families affected by strong winds and heavy rain in Ayodhya and Basti, expressed his condolences and assured them of all possible assistance.
Acting on the Chief Minister's directions, Shahi handed over cheques of Rs 4 lakh each to affected families from the state's Disaster Relief Fund within 24 hours of the incidents.
Four People Die in Ayodhya
Four people died in Ayodhya following heavy rainfall and storms. The deceased included 18-year-old Akash Verma, a resident of Shivdaspur, Shukla Ka Purwa in Sohawal tehsil; 12-year-old Aryan of Milkipur tehsil; 76-year-old Ramswaroop of Rudauli tehsil; and 40-year-old Dharmraj.
All four reportedly died after trees fell during the storm.
At the Ayodhya Circuit House, Minister Shahi handed over cheques of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of Akash Verma, Ramswaroop and Dharmraj. Immediate financial assistance was also provided to two disaster-affected families in Basti.
Relief Provided to Families in Basti
In Basti Sadar tehsil, Motiram, a resident of Chaubah village, died after a thatched roof collapsed during the storm. His wife, Kailasha Devi, was provided financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh.
Similarly, Prashant, a resident of Balua village in Mahuli West, died following a snakebite. His mother, Meera Devi, was handed a cheque for Rs 4 lakh as assistance.
Government Stands With Citizens in Times of Distress
Agriculture Minister Shahi said the state government was fully committed to the safety, service and assistance of every citizen. He said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had given clear directions that families affected by natural or other disasters should receive immediate relief, medical assistance and financial support.
Shahi also directed the district administration to ensure that all affected people receive every possible assistance without delay.
