Delhi is a mini India, where the cultures, traditions and festivals of every state come together to create a beautiful picture: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta
Renovated Goa Niwas pays tribute to Goa’s architectural style, culture and river heritage
New Delhi, October 2026 : Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta on Friday formally inaugurated the renovated Goa Niwas in Chanakyapuri. Blending modern amenities with Goa’s traditional architectural style and cultural identity, the building offers a glimpse of the state’s rich heritage and traditions in the national capital. Congratulating the Goa Government and all officials and staff involved in the renovation, the Chief Minister said the building was an excellent example of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ and ‘Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi’. Delhi Cabinet Minister Shri Ashish Sood, Goa Minister Digambar Shri V. Kamat and other dignitaries and senior officials were present at the event.
Describing the new look of Goa Niwas as impressive and grand, CM Rekha Gupta said its architecture had been designed keeping in mind Goa’s traditional style and cultural spirit. The world-class facilities, beautiful rooms and the unique decision to name each floor after one of Goa’s sacred rivers make the building special. This initiative not only gives the property a distinct identity but also helps visitors connect more closely with Goa’s roots, culture and heritage.
Delhi is a mini India
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Delhi is not merely the administrative capital of the country but also a city that represents the diversity, harmony and unity of India. People from every corner of the country live in Delhi, enriching its social fabric through their distinct cultures, festivals and ways of life. In this sense, Delhi is truly a ‘mini India’, where every state's presence can be felt. Many Goan families have also been living in Delhi for years and contributing to its growth. Foundation days of different states and major festivals are celebrated collectively in the capital to provide a common and vibrant platform for the country's diverse cultures.
New building to benefit people of both states
The Chief Minister said the renovated Goa Niwas would provide an important facility for people travelling from Goa to Delhi. Visitors will have access to modern and better accommodation at affordable rates. At the same time, Goan residents in Delhi and other people living in the capital will get an opportunity to connect with Goa’s culture, cuisine and traditions. She also suggested that a restaurant showcasing Goa’s distinctive identity and cuisine be opened at Goa Niwas soon, so that people in Delhi can enjoy traditional Goan dishes at the property.
A blend of Goa’s heritage and modern amenities
Goa Niwas, which was inaugurated around 16 years ago, has now been completely renovated with modern facilities while retaining Goa’s architectural style. The building now has 21 double bedrooms, an expanded dormitory facility, centralised air-conditioning, a modern dining area and an upgraded modular kitchen. It also houses two co-working spaces and a mini conference room for work and meetings. The different floors of the building have been named after major rivers of Goa. The basement is named Zuari, the ground floor Mhadei and the first floor Kushavati. This naming initiative connects every part of the building with Goa’s natural and cultural heritage.
