State-Level Police Commemoration Day Parade 2026 Held at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal
CM Says Naxalism Is Being Eliminated Under the Leadership of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah
Bhopal, October 2026 : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Wednesday attended the State-Level Police Commemoration Day Parade Ceremony 2026 at the Martyrs' Memorial Complex at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal.
The Chief Minister took the salute at the parade and received the Roll of Honour. He also laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial to pay tribute to police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He remembered nine police officers and personnel from the state who laid down their lives while discharging their responsibilities.
The ceremony featured contingents of the district police force, male and female platoons of the Special Armed Force, Home Guards, the pall-bearer party, colour party, police band, mounted police and dog squad. Tributes were paid to the martyrs amid patriotic tunes played by the police band.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Yadav said the country observes Police Commemoration Day every year to remember the historic sacrifice made on October 21, 1959.
“Police and armed forces have held a special place in our history. In our Sanatan culture, carrying weapons does not merely signify the display of power; it represents a commitment to protecting society and remaining prepared to safeguard the nation,” he said.
The Chief Minister paid homage to the brave personnel who made the supreme sacrifice while protecting the nation and society. He said the sacrifices of these immortal martyrs continued to be a source of pride for the country, society and Madhya Pradesh.
“I offer my humble tribute to all the immortal martyrs,” he said.
Police Have Overcome the Challenge of Naxalism
Dr Yadav said it was a moment of particular pride for Madhya Pradesh that the state had succeeded in moving beyond the challenge of Naxalism, which it had endured for nearly 35 years.
Describing the period as difficult and full of challenges, he praised the courage, valour and dedication of police personnel, saying their efforts had brought honour to the state.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Madhya Pradesh had not only confronted the serious challenge of Naxalism but had also achieved a historic milestone in overcoming it, he said.
The Chief Minister added that this achievement made the occasion of Police Commemoration Day even more meaningful and significant.
Police Play a Crucial Role in National Security
Dr Yadav said the day served as a reminder of the vital role played by the police and armed forces in safeguarding national security, maintaining peace and ensuring social order.
The national flag flying from Lal Chowk to the ramparts of the Red Fort symbolised India's self-respect, strength and glorious traditions, he said. The Tricolour also reflected the stories of courage and sacrifice of the country's brave personnel.
He observed that even as the world faced turbulence and numerous challenges, India's democracy remained secure and strong, thanks in large measure to the contribution of the police and armed forces.
Their commitment to protecting the country's unity, integrity and internal security continued to inspire the nation, he added.
Welfare Measures for Martyrs' Families
The Chief Minister saluted all police martyrs and expressed gratitude to police personnel and armed forces members working day and night to protect the country.
He said the state government had announced important measures for police personnel and their families. Financial assistance was provided to the families of police personnel who died in the line of duty.
The government had decided that 50 per cent of the assistance amount would be given to the martyr's wife and the remaining 50 per cent to the martyr's parents, he said.
Dr Yadav credited Madhya Pradesh police personnel with strengthening the reputation of the state through their professionalism and efficiency.
He also highlighted the growing challenges posed by cybercrime and drug trafficking, expressing confidence that the police would tackle these threats with the same determination demonstrated in the past.
The state government remained committed to police promotions and fresh recruitment, he added.
The Chief Minister concluded by paying homage to all police personnel who had made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
Glorious History of Madhya Pradesh Police
Director General of Police Kailash Makwana said the ceremony was an occasion to remember brave police personnel who had sacrificed their lives while performing their duties.
He said police personnel had made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the country and the state and to maintain law and order.
Madhya Pradesh Police had a distinguished history, with officers from the state serving across the country, from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu and from Goa to Nagaland, he said.
This year, nine police personnel and officers from Madhya Pradesh had laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Makwana expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs, describing them as members of the wider police family and emphasising that caring for them was a moral responsibility.
“Police service is not merely a job. It is a commitment to responsibility, dedication and sacrifice,” he said.
