Jio Platforms IPO Sees Massive Investor Interest Ahead of October 21 Launch, Demand Reportedly Tops ₹2.5 Lakh Crore

Global and domestic investors reportedly express interest worth ₹2.5 lakh crore against an IPO size of around ₹30,200 crore; retail pre-application begins on brokerage platforms

Mumbai, Oct 2026 : Investor interest in the upcoming Jio Platforms initial public offering (IPO) is gathering momentum ahead of its opening on October 21, with media reports indicating that global and domestic institutional investors have expressed preliminary demand worth approximately ₹2.5 lakh crore. This is more than eight times the reported issue size of around ₹30,200 crore.

However, the reported interest does not represent formal IPO subscription figures. It indicates preliminary interest among large investors and their willingness to participate in the share allocation process ahead of the public offering.

According to media reports, the institutional interest includes foreign long-only funds, sovereign wealth funds, major mutual funds and insurance companies. The extent to which this preliminary demand translates into formal anchor allocations and subscriptions will become clearer as the IPO process progresses.

Global and Domestic Investors Show Interest

Among the prominent overseas investors reportedly showing interest in the offering are sovereign wealth funds such as the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), Norges Bank Investment Management, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and the Qatar Investment Authority.

Global asset managers, including BlackRock, Fidelity and Capital Group, have also been named among the institutions expressing interest.

On the domestic front, major investors reportedly include the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), SBI Mutual Fund and HDFC Mutual Fund.

The participation of large institutional investors is being closely watched as the offering approaches. Nevertheless, the reported preliminary demand should not be interpreted as a confirmed commitment to subscribe to the issue, and final participation may differ from the initial indications.

Retail Pre-Applications Begin

Meanwhile, retail investors can reportedly register their interest through pre-application facilities available on several brokerage platforms.

The pre-application process allows investors to enter their orders before the IPO formally opens. These orders are subsequently processed in accordance with the applicable procedures once the subscription window begins.

Pre-applications are not equivalent to official IPO subscriptions and do not guarantee share allotment. Investors will need to follow the formal application process and applicable payment requirements.

Price Band and Key Dates

The Jio Platforms IPO has a price band of ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share, with a minimum application lot of 12 shares. At the upper end of the price band, a retail investor would need ₹13,428 to apply for one lot, excluding any applicable charges.

The public issue is scheduled to open on October 21 and close on October 23. The anchor investor bidding process is scheduled for October 19, ahead of the public subscription period.

The anchor allocation process is expected to provide a clearer indication of institutional participation before the issue opens to other investors.

With the reported preliminary institutional interest substantially exceeding the proposed issue size, attention is now focused on the anchor investor process and the formal subscription figures during the three-day offering period. These stages will help establish whether the early enthusiasm translates into actual demand for the IPO.
