Mayawati Alleges ‘Fake Surveys’ Targeting BSP Ahead of UP, Uttarakhand and Punjab Assembly Elections

Lucknow, October 2026 : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has alleged that misleading surveys and social media campaigns are being circulated to weaken her party ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Mayawati alleged that propaganda was being spread through caste-based media platforms and social media, allegedly using money power to project the BSP as politically weak and divert public attention from its electoral preparations.

She described the alleged surveys and opinion polls targeting the BSP as unfortunate, saying the party was concentrating on strengthening its organisation, preparing at the grassroots level and selecting capable and strong candidates for the upcoming elections.

According to Mayawati, attempts to undermine the BSP’s electoral prospects through sponsored surveys and misleading publicity are not new. She claimed that similar narratives had circulated during previous elections but had failed to reflect the party’s actual performance.

Citing the 2007 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Mayawati recalled that the BSP had faced similar predictions and claims at the time. Nevertheless, the party secured an absolute majority and formed the government in the state.

Referring to her government’s tenure, she said it had worked to establish the rule of law and govern in accordance with the principle of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya”—meaning the welfare and happiness of all.

Mayawati urged BSP supporters and party workers to remain alert to what she described as propaganda by opposition parties and caste-based elements. She cautioned that political opponents could attempt to influence voters through various tactics during the election period.

Invoking the traditional political expression “Sama, Daam, Danda, and Bhed”—persuasion, inducement, coercion and division—she warned party workers against efforts to mislead voters or weaken the BSP’s support base.

The BSP chief called on workers to intensify organisational activities, strengthen the party at the grassroots level and mobilise fully for the forthcoming elections.

The statement comes as the BSP has stepped up its organisational reviews and election preparations in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab. The party has been assessing its electoral prospects, reviewing voter-related issues and working on candidate selection.

On October 4, Mayawati held a meeting with senior party officials in Uttarakhand to review voter lists, the situation following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, candidate selection and preparations for the Assembly elections.

In Uttar Pradesh, the BSP is also progressing with its candidate-selection process. Recent reports have indicated that the party has completed the selection process for candidates in several constituencies and is working towards finalising its nominees well ahead of the elections.

Mayawati’s remarks come amid the circulation of political surveys and electoral projections by media organisations and polling agencies concerning the 2027 Assembly elections.

While the BSP has questioned the credibility and intentions of surveys it considers misleading, the allegations reflect the party’s effort to consolidate its organisation and prepare its supporters for the electoral contest. The party’s campaign is expected to focus on grassroots mobilisation, candidate selection and strengthening its presence across the three states.
