Better roads are the strong foundation of rural development; quality construction will create greater opportunities for development: Minister Laxmi Rajwade
Raipur, September 2026 : Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Laxmi Rajwade has given a major road development boost to the people of the Bhaiyathan area by performing the commencement puja for two important road construction and upgradation projects costing more than Rs 34.15 crore.
Once completed, these projects will improve connectivity in rural areas and provide better access to education, healthcare, markets and other essential services. They are also expected to give a new direction to the pace of development in the region.
Minister Laxmi Rajwade said roads are the lifeline of development. A strong and improved road network enhances connectivity between villages and strengthens the rural economy. She said the government's effort is to ensure that quality infrastructure reaches even remote rural areas and that people get better transportation facilities.
She added that the road projects would benefit farmers, students, traders and the general public.
The Minister directed Public Works Department officials and construction agencies to complete all works within the stipulated timeframe. Stressing strict adherence to quality standards, she said strong and durable infrastructure was essential to ensure that people receive the long-term benefits of development projects.
18-km Road From National Highway-43 to Kenwara to Be Widened
Among the major projects for which the commencement puja was performed is the widening and upgradation of the Dumariya National Highway-43 to Kenwara road.
The 18-km-long road will be widened at an estimated cost of around Rs 30.41 crore. The project will include bituminous concrete and shoulder works, along with the construction of 6,570 metres of drains, a 300-metre toe wall, a 140-metre retaining wall, eight Hume Pipe Culverts (HPCs) and seven slab culverts.
The upgradation of the road will improve connectivity and transportation facilities for rural areas linked to National Highway-43.
Jhammanpara to Get Better Connectivity Through Darripara-Danauli Road
In the same programme, the commencement puja was also performed for the construction of a 3.20-km road from Darripara to Danauli in Jhammanpara.
An administrative approval of Rs 374.76 lakh has been granted for the project. It includes construction of a 3.20-km road, 0.90 km of CC road, 1,200 metres of drains, a 90-metre retaining wall and six HPC culverts.
The project will provide better transportation facilities to local residents and contribute to accelerating development in the area.
Minister Appeals to People to Join Seva Sankalp Abhiyan
During the programme, Minister Laxmi Rajwade appealed to residents to actively participate in the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
She said the campaign, being organised from September 17 to October 17, aims to strengthen the spirit of service, public participation and public welfare.
She urged citizens, public representatives, youth, women and social organisations to participate actively in the campaign. She said collective efforts can give fresh momentum to initiatives aimed at service and public welfare.
