Kolkata, Oct 2026 : Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is scheduled to hold a key organisational meeting in Bardhaman in West Bengal’s East Burdwan district on Thursday to review the organisation’s expansion and outreach activities in the state over the past year.
According to RSS sources, office-bearers representing the organisation’s three main regional units in West Bengal will attend the meeting, which comes as the RSS marks its 102nd foundation year.
The meeting is expected to focus on the organisation’s outreach among different sections of society, the expansion of its organisational network and plans for social activities in the coming years.
RSS state-level sources said the organisation has been conducting an extensive public outreach campaign for nearly a year, with the objective of strengthening its engagement with various sections of society across West Bengal.
“Now it is time for our national chief to review the outcome of the intensive year-long public outreach campaign, and this assessment will be carried out at the meeting in Bardhaman later today,” an RSS source said.
Office-bearers from the northern, central and southern parts of West Bengal are expected to participate in the meeting convened by Bhagwat.
People familiar with the organisational developments said discussions would cover the RSS structure in the state, its expansion and the manner in which social programmes would be implemented in the coming years.
A report on the organisation’s outreach activities during the past year is also expected to be presented in Bhagwat’s presence. The report will examine how the increased engagement with different sections of society has contributed to the RSS’s organisational expansion in the state.
The meeting is also expected to review the growth in the number of RSS shakhas or local branches across West Bengal.
According to sources, details of newly opened shakhas, the existing organisational structure and programmes proposed for the next year will form part of the discussions.
Following the organisational review, a programme aimed at bringing together volunteers is also expected to be held. The event is being seen as an opportunity to strengthen coordination among volunteers and organisational units across different parts of the state.
Bhagwat’s visit assumes significance as it is his first visit to West Bengal since the formation of the new government in the state following the Assembly elections, according to RSS sources.
The RSS has been seeking to expand its organisational and social outreach in West Bengal through interactions with different communities and sections of society. The year-long campaign has been part of those efforts, with the organisation focusing on strengthening its presence at the grassroots level.
The Bardhaman meeting is expected to provide an assessment of the progress made during this period and outline the organisational priorities for the next phase.
The RSS foundation day period has also provided an opportunity for the organisation to review its activities across states and discuss future programmes. In West Bengal, the focus of Thursday’s meeting is expected to remain on organisational expansion, the growth of shakhas, volunteer coordination and social outreach.
With senior office-bearers from the three regional units attending, the meeting is likely to bring together representatives from across the state and provide a consolidated assessment of the RSS’s activities and expansion in West Bengal over the past year.
