Nitin Nabin Hails Modi’s 25 Years in Public Service as Historic Chapter for India

New Delhi, October 2026 : BJP President Nitin Nabin on Wednesday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 25 years as head of government as a historic chapter in India’s journey, marked by clear vision, determination and an emphasis on public service and good governance.

Modi completed 25 years in executive leadership on Wednesday, beginning with his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 and continuing through three terms as Prime Minister.

Taking to X, Nabin said Modi had placed the principle of “Nation First” at the centre of his public life and accorded priority to good governance throughout his 25-year journey from Gujarat to the Prime Minister’s Office.

“Nation First, Service is Life!” Nabin said, describing Modi’s journey as one defined by “clear vision, unwavering resolve, and the building of a modern India.”

He said Modi had consistently sought to turn challenges into opportunities while pursuing the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas and Sabka Vishwas.” Nabin also highlighted what he described as the Prime Minister’s role in strengthening India’s position on the global stage.

“Your commitment to nation-building is an inspiration for all of us,” Nabin said, adding that the journey towards the collective goal of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ would continue under Modi’s leadership.

From Gujarat to the Centre

Modi’s first stint as head of a government began in Gujarat in October 2001, when he became Chief Minister. He remained in the post for more than 12 years before being named the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

Under his leadership, the BJP secured a majority in the 2014 election, enabling him to become Prime Minister. The party returned to power with a larger mandate in 2019 and secured another term in 2024.

With his third consecutive term, Modi became the first Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru to lead a government for three successive terms.

The BJP’s commemorative activities have sought to connect Modi’s tenure in Gujarat with his subsequent years at the Centre, highlighting initiatives that began at the state level and were later expanded nationally.

Among them is the SWAGAT grievance-redressal system, through which citizens could directly raise grievances for review. The initiative received the United Nations Public Service Award in 2010.

The approach subsequently influenced PRAGATI, the Centre’s platform for reviewing major projects, monitoring implementation and addressing bottlenecks involving different government departments and state administrations.

Seva Sankalp Abhiyan

The BJP has been marking the milestone through the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, launched on September 17, Modi’s birthday.

The campaign has included blood donation drives, cleanliness programmes, welfare outreach initiatives, exhibitions, cultural events and other public-service activities across the country.

On Wednesday, BJP units organised programmes in several states, including torch marches, motorcycle and cycle rallies and exhibitions showcasing Modi’s political journey from Gujarat to the Prime Minister’s Office.

In the national capital, the main Seva Jyoti programme is being held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex, with BJP workers and supporters from organisational units across Delhi expected to participate.

The celebrations seek to highlight the two-and-a-half-decade journey of Modi in executive office while linking his political career with the BJP’s broader emphasis on governance, development and public service.

As Modi marks the milestone, the BJP is also positioning the next phase of his leadership around the long-term goal of building a developed India by 2047, making the 25-year mark both a reflection on his political journey and a reference point for the years ahead.
