Chief Minister’s Community Health Camp Held at Murum at Constituency Level
Dharashiv, September 2026 : No needy patient should be deprived of treatment due to a lack of financial resources, and this remains the policy of the state government, Maharashtra Minister of State for Health Meghna Sakore-Bordikar said on Sunday.
Speaking after inaugurating the constituency-level ‘Chief Minister’s Community Health Camp 2026’ at the premises of Shri Vitthalsai Cooperative Sugar Factory in Murum, Umarga taluka, she said every patient attending the camp would receive proper care and assistance. The camp was jointly organised by the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund Cell, Charitable Hospital Assistance Cell, District Health Department and Sharan Patil Foundation.
Sakore-Bordikar said the government health machinery would make every effort to reduce patients’ suffering and ensure that they receive the treatment they require. She stressed that healthcare services were being strengthened to make modern treatment facilities accessible to ordinary citizens.
She also highlighted the important contribution of ASHA workers to the state’s healthcare system and said efforts would be made to fulfil the demand for providing smartphones to them.
The minister said the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana provides treatment facilities of up to Rs 5 lakh, while financial assistance is also being provided to needy patients through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. She added that assistance of up to Rs 24 lakh is available for organ transplantation.
Sakore-Bordikar said efforts would be made to establish a 100-bed women’s hospital in Umarga. She also promised to pursue proposals for 50-bed sub-district hospitals each at Murum and Lohara, besides a trauma care centre at Umarga.
She said the government was focusing on strengthening healthcare infrastructure so that people in both rural and urban areas could access quality medical services closer to home. Patients attending the camp would be assisted not only during the event but also in accessing further treatment wherever required.
Rajya Sabha MP Dr Ajit Gopchade said the camp had been organised to address healthcare-related concerns of residents in the constituency and would benefit a large number of people. He also called for more such camps across Marathwada and urged the minister to establish a women’s hospital at Umarga.
MLA Basvaraj Patil said the health camp, organised with the support of the Sharan Patil Foundation and the Health Department, was helping provide relief to citizens by offering essential examinations and treatment.
MLA Pravin Swami also praised the initiative and called for the immediate filling of vacant posts in the health department. He said shortages of doctors and healthcare staff were affecting services and urged the government to fill sanctioned posts on priority.
During the programme, nutrition kits were distributed to tuberculosis patients and Ayushman Bharat cards were handed over to beneficiaries. The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, followed by Maharashtra’s state song ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha’. The programme concluded with the national anthem.
