Bhubaneswar: October 2026 : In a major recognition of its clean energy initiatives, Odisha has been conferred the prestigious Wind India 2026 Award for “Leadership in Wind Energy De-risking” at the Windergy India 2026 summit. The award was received by Dr. Satyapriya Rath, Managing Director, GRIDCO, from the Hon’ble Union Minister, New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, in the presence of distinguished industry leaders and government dignitaries.
Expressing his happiness on this milestone achievement, Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Energy, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, noted that this recognition reflects the State Government’s unwavering commitment to accelerating Odisha’s clean energy transition, attracting private investment, and building an enabling ecosystem for sustainable power generation under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy.
As part of Odisha’s active participation at Windergy India 2026, a dedicated state session titled “Odisha: India’s Next Wind Destination” was organized to present the State’s untapped wind potential to global and domestic investors. Setting the context for the session, Dr. Satyapriya Rath, detailed Odisha’s strategic advantage and key policy enablers designed to convert potential into bankable, scalable wind projects. The discussion centered on the theme "From Potential to Investment," focusing on critical execution pillars including wind resource assessment and bankability, land and site readiness, grid connectivity, turbine logistics, and long-term regulatory certainty.
The Wind India 2026 recognition and strong industry participation reinforce Odisha’s position as one of India's most promising and investor-friendly emerging destinations for renewable energy development.
