CM Yogi says Uttar Pradesh is no longer a land of decline and exploitation, but of progress and culture

Gorakhpur, November 2026 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured the state’s farmers, the providers of food, that the government would announce a package to compensate for losses caused by untimely rainfall, excessive rainfall, and hailstorms due to the cyclone. He said, “We have provided compensation for this, but I believe it is inadequate. The double-engine government will work to fully compensate farmers for the losses they have suffered. All district administrations have been instructed to conduct a complete survey and provide immediate compensation. We will bring out a new package for farmers, through which the losses suffered by them will be compensated.”

CM Yogi addressed a public meeting in Chauri Chaura on Sunday after inaugurating the Bhopabazar Railway Overbridge (Level Crossing No. 147B), built for Rs 59.44 crore, and laying foundation stones for 84 development projects worth Rs 287.56 crore.

Attacking the Samajwadi Party, he said, "The SP had turned Uttar Pradesh into a hub of crime during its tenure. The SP government promoted crime, while the double-engine BJP government has set Uttar Pradesh on the path towards self-reliance. The SP government nurtured criminals to loot, while the BJP government has brought change through development. Uttar Pradesh is no longer a land of decline and exploitation, but has become a land of progress and culture. Curfews, disturbances and riots no longer take place here; instead, celebrations are held. During Akhilesh Yadav’s tenure, outsiders would run a hundred kos away upon hearing the name of UP. Today, people from UP are welcomed and accorded respect."

The Chief Minister stated, "There was a need to remain cautious of those who had created a crisis of identity and security for Uttar Pradesh, who had robbed the youth of employment and jobs, snatched the happiness from farmers’ faces and deprived the poor of their rights. We must carry forward the stream of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji."

He added, "Corrupt elements are troubled by the Modi government. Those creating disorder on the streets are, in fact, trying to create an atmosphere against the poor, because Modi Ji has worked to bring happiness to the faces of the poor and uplift them. Those spreading disorder are opposed to farmers, women, and the security of India. They are supporters of Naxalism, terrorism, and separatism. We must not allow these corrupt elements to spread disorder. We must also prepare to fight a decisive battle against them. The public will have to stand up to counter misinformation."

The Chief Minister said, “How can the people of Congress and SP speak of morality? During the SP government, the slogan was: ‘Look at the SP worker, the daughter is frightened.’ Girls were afraid to go to school, and traders were afraid to conduct business. Riots and disturbances would begin before festivals. Looting and encroachment on the poor's land were common. SP means an invitation to criminals, while BJP means becoming a charioteer of change. The SP formed the government four times and caused 1,500 riots. It gave the state ‘One District-One Mafia’. It nurtured 10 lakh goons who spread looting and disorder in every district.”

Explaining the difference between the SP and BJP governments, the Chief Minister stated, "The BJP government had provided government jobs to 10 lakh youth in 10 years. It introduced ‘One District-One Medical College’, ‘One District-One Product’ and ‘One District-One Cuisine’. It also worked to eliminate mafias. Now, no mafia can dare to encroach upon the land of any poor person or breach the security of any daughter, because they know what the consequences will be."

CM Yogi said, "Gorakhpur is developing today. Uttar Pradesh has changed, and India has moved forward with a new identity in the world. This is a new India, where 140 crore Indians experience a sense of pride under Modi Ji’s leadership. According to a World Bank report, over the past 12 years, 46 crore people have been allowed to rise above the poverty line and lead a normal life."

He further added that PM Modi Ji has worked to free the country from the stigma of poverty. There has been an unprecedented change in the lives of the poor. They are receiving housing, toilets are being built in their homes, and they are benefiting from free ration facilities. For the first time in the country, 55 crore people have received the benefit of Ayushman Bharat, providing free healthcare coverage of Rs 5 lakh per year. Jan Dhan accounts have been opened for 55 crore people. Under the corrupt Congress government, the poor received only Rs 15 out of every Rs 100, whereas through Jan Dhan accounts, the poor now receive the full Rs 100.

CM Yogi said, "In the historic incident of Chauri Chaura, the British had sentenced 172 patriots to death. These Congressmen say that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was a prominent advocate for the country. However, Pandit Nehru did not defend these 172 farmers, workers, and traders at that time. Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya came forward to defend them. Malaviya Ji succeeded in saving 151 revolutionaries from the gallows."

The CM also paid homage to the sacred memories of Bhagwan Ahir, the principal guide of the historic Chauri Chaura incident, along with Nazar Ali, Komal Singh Yadav, Lal Mohammad, Abdullah, Shyam Sundar, Mahadev Singh, Vikram Ahir, Meghu Ali, Kalicharan, Lotu Kumhar, Raghubir Sunar, Ram Lakhan, Ramroop, Sahdev, Rudai Kevat, Sampat Ahir, Sitaram, Dudhai and others.

He said that these revolutionaries sacrificed themselves without considering family or caste. The historic incident of Chauri Chaura had sounded the bugle of India’s independence.

Paying homage to the memories of Baba Gorakhnath, Maa Tarkulha Devi, Shaheed Bandhu Singh, Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Raja Hariprasad Mall, the revolutionaries of Chauri Chaura and immortal martyrs, the Chief Minister said, “Whenever I come to Chauri Chaura, I remember a few lines by Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’. He wrote: “Jala asthiyan baari- baari, chatkayeen jinmein chingari, jo chadh gaye punyavedi par, liye bina gardan ka mol, kalam aaj unki jay bol.”

In the same context, he used lines by Dinkar to take a dig at those creating disorder in the country: “Andha chakachaundh ka maara, kya jane itihas bechara.”

The Chief Minister said that the Bhopabazar Railway Overbridge should be named the Shaheed Smarak Overbridge. He also mentioned the efforts made by Kamlesh Paswan, Sangeeta Yadav, Jaiprakash Nishad and Sarvan Nishad for the overbridge.

Among those prominently present on the occasion were Rajya Sabha MP Sangeeta Yadav, MLC and BJP State Vice-President Dr. Dharmendra Singh, MLAs Shriram Chauhan, Vipin Singh and Pradeep Shukla, former Rajya Sabha MP Jaiprakash Nishad, BJP Regional President Vinod Rai, District President Janardan Tiwari, District In-charge Ajay Singh Gautam, Suman Yadav, Sunny Jaiswal and others.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the Bhopabazar Railway Overbridge by cutting the ribbon and pressing a button to unveil the foundation plaque. He then inspected the overbridge on foot.

Before addressing the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony, the Chief Minister visited the Chauri Chaura Shaheed Memorial. There, he paid floral tributes to the immortal martyrs of the historic Chauri Chaura incident.

At the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony, CM Yogi also honored beneficiaries of various government schemes by presenting them with certificates and other items.

Rambachan, Ashok Singh and Rajmangal, beneficiaries of schemes of the Agriculture Department; Sheela Devi and Usha Devi, beneficiaries of the Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme; Gunja Devi and Sunita Devi, beneficiaries of Zero Poverty; and progressive farmers engaged in industrial activities, Rampreet, Devendra Pratap, Rambachan Maurya and Ramlala, received honors from CM Yogi.

At the ceremony, Union Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan said that the credit for rescuing Uttar Pradesh from the image of a backward state and transforming it into a developed state goes to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He has worked day and night to make Uttar Pradesh the best state. Under CM Yogi’s leadership, development works have reached every village in UP over the past 10 years. The demand for a railway overbridge at Bhopabazar had been pending for years, and CM Yogi has fulfilled it.

He appealed to the people to respond strongly to the opposition parties’ misinformation in the upcoming Assembly elections and form the government under Yogi Ji’s leadership for the third time.

Dr. Sanjay Nishad, Minister for Fisheries in the State Government, said that under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership, Uttar Pradesh has rapidly advanced in development and become a model state for the entire country. Just as the immortal martyrs contributed to driving the British out of the country through the historic Chauri Chaura incident, CM Yogi has worked to drive political looters out of the state. The double-engine government made possible what had not been accomplished in 70 years.
