Nashik, September 16, 2026: A comprehensive and effective plan should be prepared to showcase Nashik’s religious, cultural and tourism identity at the national and global levels through the Kumbh Mela to be held next year at Nashik-Trimbakeshwar, said Brijesh Singh, Principal Secretary and Director General of the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations.
A review meeting on the media plan was held at the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority’s office in the presence of Director General Brijesh Singh. He was speaking at the meeting.
Police Commissioner Dr. Sandeep Karnik, Kumbh Mela Authority Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Director of the Information and Public Relations Department Dr. Kishor Gangurde, Additional Commissioner of the Authority Kamalakar Randive, Deputy Director of the Nashik Division Dr. Kiran Moghe, District Information Officer Vilas Bodke, Special Officer on Duty to the Director General Irshad Bagwan, and Senior Assistant Director of the Documentary Division Sagarkumar Kamble, among others, were present.
Singh said the Kumbh Mela is being organised at Nashik-Trimbakeshwar after a gap of 12 years. To effectively brand the Kumbh Mela at the global level, traditional media should be complemented by coordinated use of digital platforms, social media, audio-visual media, and various national and international media outlets. A comprehensive and all-encompassing media plan should be prepared for this purpose.
A well-planned campaign should be undertaken to effectively communicate the unique features of the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela, its religious traditions, historical and cultural heritage, the Godavari River and major pilgrimage sites to devotees and tourists in India and abroad.
He also stressed the need to establish a distinct tourism identity for Nashik-Trimbakeshwar through the Kumbh Mela, while effectively showcasing its spiritual destinations, local art and culture, culinary traditions, heritage sites and tourist attractions. Detailed planning should be undertaken for creating dedicated content and publicity material for different media platforms, along with a comprehensive social media campaign.
Singh also directed officials to ensure that information about the various long-term infrastructure and development projects being undertaken across Nashik-Trimbakeshwar and the district in preparation for the Kumbh Mela reaches the general public. He also instructed officials to immediately counter misinformation and rumours.
Kumbh Mela Authority Commissioner Shekhar Singh provided detailed information about the various development works being undertaken through the Authority.
After the meeting, Director General Singh visited and inspected the Ramkund area. He reviewed the facilities that will be made available to devotees during the Kumbh Mela, as well as the media presentation of key locations and other aspects required for publicity and promotion.
Police Commissioner Karnik, Director Dr. Gangurde, Additional Commissioner Randive, Deputy Director Dr. Moghe, Deputy Commissioner of Police Monica Raut, District Information Officer Bodke and senior officials from various departments were also present during the visit.
