Rajasthan DGP Rajiv Kumar Sharma Reviews Law and Order, Stresses Cybercrime Action and Panchayat Poll Preparedness

Jaipur, October 2026: Rajasthan Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma has directed police officers across the state to remain fully alert to maintain law and order and ensure effective and prompt action in all circumstances.

Chairing a crime and law-and-order review meeting at the Police Headquarters on Wednesday, the DGP reviewed the timely disposal of pending cases, crime prevention, monitoring of sensitive incidents, preparations for the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections and the conduct of police personnel.

Police Inspector Generals of all ranges and Superintendents of Police from districts participated in the meeting through video conferencing. Additional Directors General of Police and other senior officers attended the meeting at the Police Headquarters.

Special Monitoring of Disputed Cases

Sharma directed officers to identify cases involving disputes that could potentially disturb law and order and place them under priority monitoring. Lists of such cases should be prepared and reviewed regularly at police station, circle and district levels.

He stressed coordination with the Revenue Department, Forest Department and other concerned agencies to resolve disputes before they escalate. Officers were instructed to use counselling, preventive action and other lawful measures to maintain peace.

Sensitive and Responsible Public Dealing

The DGP expressed concern over cases involving police personnel allegedly participating in criminal activities and ordered their identification, monitoring and appropriate action under the rules.

He emphasised that police personnel at stations and in the field must behave sensitively, courteously and cooperatively towards the public. Officers were also directed to hear complainants regularly and ensure their grievances were resolved within prescribed timelines.

Prompt Action in Sensitive Incidents

Taking serious note of recent incidents, Sharma instructed senior officers to ensure effective supervision of sensitive and serious cases. Information about such incidents must be communicated promptly to senior authorities, followed by swift and appropriate action based on verified facts.

He also stressed the need to share timely and factual information with the media and through social media channels.

The DGP made it clear that negligence in law-and-order matters would not be tolerated. Responsibility would be fixed and action taken against anyone found guilty in accordance with the law.

Accountability for Pending Cases

Sharma directed police stations to ensure the time-bound disposal of pending cases. Cases pending for more than one year will be reviewed by the concerned Superintendent of Police, while those pending for more than three years will be examined by the respective range Inspector General.

He called for effective action plans to clear old cases, pending charge sheets and final reports (FRs). Regular reviews must identify and remove obstacles delaying the disposal of cases.

Districts Asked to Analyse Crime Trends

The DGP directed districts reporting an increase of more than five per cent in cases registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC) to analyse crime trends and prepare effective action plans.

Districts registering comparatively fewer cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were asked to intensify enforcement against drug-related offences.

Districts witnessing a significant increase in crimes against women were instructed to analyse the reasons and formulate concrete action plans. Districts showing inadequate enforcement under local and special laws, as well as the NDPS Act, were also told to improve their performance.

Security Arrangements for Panchayat Elections and Festivals

With Panchayati Raj elections and several festivals approaching, Sharma directed district police chiefs to prepare deployment plans for adequate police personnel and maintain heightened vigilance in sensitive areas.

Officers were asked to identify anti-social elements and take preventive action against them, increase regular patrolling and strengthen barricading and checkpoint operations.

He also directed officials to ensure the field presence of the Kalika Patrolling Unit during festivals. Continuous monitoring of law and order, public safety, police accountability and public confidence must remain the highest priorities, he said.

Body Cameras During Checkpoints

The DGP instructed police personnel to use body cameras during barricading and checkpoint operations. He called for strict action against drunk driving, suspicious vehicles and overspeeding.

He also directed police units to minimise response times upon receiving information about crimes and ensure prompt action at the scene.

Preventive Policing and Cybercrime

Sharma emphasised strengthening preventive and proactive policing to curb crime. Officers were directed to make effective use of the Rajasthan Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act (RAJPASA), relevant provisions of the BNS, the Goonda Act, preventive provisions under the NDPS Act and other applicable legal measures.

On cybercrime, he stressed the registration of Zero FIRs to ensure that victims receive timely assistance, regardless of jurisdictional considerations. Complaints must be acted upon promptly to provide relief to victims.

The DGP urged all officers to maintain continuous oversight of law and order in their respective jurisdictions and place public safety, police accountability and citizens' trust at the centre of their work.
