The review was attended by the Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner, Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Special Relief Commissioner, Principal Secretary of the Water Resources Department, Engineer-in-Chief of the Water Resources Department and other senior officials.

Despite the serious situation in Ganjam and Gajapati districts caused by sudden flooding following exceptionally heavy, cloudburst-like rainfall, the Hon’ble Revenue Minister emphasised that the administration must reach every affected person and ensure the timely delivery of all necessary services and assistance. He directly monitored rescue and relief operations throughout the day through virtual interactions from the Control Room.

The Hon’ble Minister expressed confidence that, with the boundless blessings of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath and the coordinated efforts of all concerned, the flood situation would normalise soon. He assured the affected people that the State Government and the entire administrative machinery stood firmly by their side. He appealed to the public to remain calm, cooperate with the administration and prioritise their safety.

The Revenue Minister has been in regular telephonic contact with the Hon’ble Ministers, senior officers and local public representatives deployed in the affected districts to obtain updates on the ground situation. In coordination with the SRC, he has been ensuring the availability of necessary facilities and assistance. He has also coordinated with the Indian Coast Guard to facilitate the evacuation of people stranded by floodwaters in affected areas using helicopters.

In locations where strong water currents have prevented teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) from reaching affected people, aerial evacuation operations have been undertaken to move them to safer places. In the vulnerable areas of Ganjam district, people are being evacuated in phases using Coast Guard helicopters. Cooked food, drinking water and other essential arrangements have been ensured for those affected.
