Workers to receive ₹1,10,250 each on November 5; second major festive payout within a month takes total bonus disbursement to around ₹1,020 crore
Hyderabad, Oct 2026 : The Telangana government has announced a Diwali bonus of ₹419 crore for employees of the state-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), with the amount scheduled to be credited to their bank accounts on November 5.
Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka made the announcement on Friday while extending advance Diwali greetings to the employees of the coal company. He directed the SCCL management to ensure the timely disbursement of the Performance-Linked Reward Bonus to eligible workers.
The decision is expected to benefit approximately 38,000 employees, with each eligible employee receiving ₹1,10,250. The company will spend a total of ₹419 crore towards the Diwali bonus.
This is the second major festive payout for Singareni employees within a month. On October 13, the state government had announced a profit-sharing bonus of ₹596 crore for employees on the occasion of Dasara. Following the Deputy Chief Minister’s directions, the SCCL management has initiated the process for distributing the Diwali bonus.
Singareni Chairman and Managing Director Buddha Prakash Jyoti held discussions with the concerned personnel and finance officials and instructed them to make the necessary arrangements to credit the bonus into workers’ bank accounts by November 5.
The company clarified that the Diwali bonus would be applicable exclusively to employees covered under the National Coal Wage Agreement (NCWA). Executive- and officer-level employees will not be eligible for the payment.
As per the eligibility criteria, workers who completed at least 190 working days in underground mines or 240 working days in open-cast and surface operations during the previous financial year will qualify for the full bonus. Employees who worked for fewer days will receive the amount on a pro-rata basis, depending on the number of days worked. However, a minimum attendance of 30 days during the previous financial year has been prescribed to qualify for the bonus.
Earlier, on October 13, the state government had announced a 34 per cent profit share for permanent employees as a Dasara gift. Permanent employees received an average profit share of ₹1,53,912 each, while contract workers were paid ₹5,500 each.
With the latest Diwali announcement, the total amount disbursed by Singareni management through the two festive payouts will reach approximately ₹1,020 crore. Employees are expected to receive an average of nearly ₹2.65 lakh through the Dasara and Diwali payments within a span of one month.
Extending his Diwali greetings, SCCL CMD Buddha Prakash Jyoti urged employees to utilise the bonus for their family requirements and, if possible, set aside a portion as savings.
He also encouraged the workforce to maintain enthusiasm and dedication in the festive spirit and work towards achieving the targets assigned to their respective mines and departments.
