Telangana BJP Chief Accuses Congress of Using State as ATM for Delhi Propaganda

N. Ramchander Rao attacks Congress over electoral allegations, voter-list revision and unfulfilled promises, while accusing the ruling party of prioritising Delhi over Telangana

Hyderabad, Oct 2026 : Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Congress government in the state, accusing the party of allegedly using Telangana as an “ATM” to fund its political activities and propaganda in Delhi. Addressing a meeting of BJP office-bearers at the party office in Hyderabad, Rao also criticised the Congress over its allegations against the Election Commission and the electoral process.

Rao said the world takes pride in India’s democratic system and electoral process, but alleged that the Congress was attempting to undermine public confidence by making what he described as baseless allegations against the country’s electoral institutions.

He questioned the Congress’ repeated criticism of elections and the Election Commission, saying the party praised electronic voting machines (EVMs) and the poll process when it won elections but raised objections when it faced defeat.

Rao also took a personal political swipe at the Congress leadership, saying the party had been unable to accept the rise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he referred to as an ordinary “chaiwala” who went on to occupy the country’s highest elected office.

He criticised Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over remarks questioning the validity of elections and challenged the party to demonstrate its position by asking Congress-ruled Chief Ministers, including those in Telangana, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh, to resign if they genuinely believed the elections were invalid.

A major part of Rao’s address focused on voter-list revision and allegations concerning illegal immigrants. He said every Indian citizen above the age of 18, irrespective of religion, has a constitutional right to vote, while foreign nationals who entered the country illegally are not entitled to exercise that right.

Rao claimed that the ongoing revision of electoral rolls was bringing to light the names of large numbers of allegedly illegal infiltrators. He specifically claimed that around 30,000 Rohingyas and illegal voters were present in Hyderabad’s Maheshwaram constituency. These claims were not independently substantiated in the statement.

The BJP leader accused Congress and INDIA bloc leaders of opposing voter-list verification because they feared losing elections if ineligible names were removed. He maintained that the verification of electoral rolls was necessary to ensure that only eligible citizens remained registered and that people who had shifted for employment or other reasons could have their electoral details updated.

Turning to state politics, Rao said people in Telangana were allegedly dissatisfied with both the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Congress. He accused the previous BRS government of benefiting the KCR family during its decade in power and alleged that the present Congress government was similarly favouring the interests of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his associates.

Rao also accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil its electoral commitments as it approached three years in office. He cited pending fee reimbursement payments to students, alleged delays in Rythu Bharosa assistance, pension-related issues involving retired employees, and the lack of progress in teacher recruitment and employee promotions.

He further criticised the state government over the non-implementation of the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, alleging that the decision was unfair to farmers and could leave them vulnerable to agricultural losses.

Rao accused Congress leaders of being more concerned about commissions, contracts and alleged financial transfers to the party’s central leadership than addressing public issues. He also alleged that disputes within the KCR family over assets were taking place even as the BRS and Congress continued to blame each other for alleged corruption.

The Telangana BJP president said the office-bearers’ meeting reaffirmed the party’s commitment to expanding its organisational presence across the state. He said the BJP would work towards establishing a “Double Engine Sarkar” in Telangana under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Newly appointed Telangana BJP Co-Incharge Abhay Patil, General Secretary (Organisation) Madhukar, Co-General Secretary (Organisation) Dasharatha Vailaya and Karnataka State Co-Incharge Kasam Venkateshwarlu were also present at the meeting.
