Jaipur, October 2026: Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani on Sunday flagged off an ambulance purchased at a cost of ₹11.82 lakh from the MLA Local Area Development Fund and handed it over to the Red Cross Society in Ajmer district.
The ambulance will provide transportation services at minimal charges to poor and underprivileged patients, making medical assistance more accessible to those in need.
Speaking at the programme organised at the Red Cross Society, Devnani said the organisation had been carrying out significant activities in healthcare and public service. Following its request for an ambulance, the vehicle was purchased using ₹11.82 lakh from the MLA fund and handed over to the society. The purchase was facilitated through the office of the Chief Medical and Health Officer.
He expressed confidence that the ambulance would help provide affordable and accessible medical transportation to needy patients.
Highlighting the ongoing efforts to modernise and strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Ajmer, Devnani said advanced facilities, including robotic surgery, had been introduced at Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Hospital at a cost of ₹18 crore. The technology is enabling complex surgical procedures to be performed using advanced medical techniques.
He added that essential healthcare facilities had also been made available at the satellite hospital in the northern part of the city, where more than 400 patients benefit from outpatient department (OPD) services every day.
The Assembly Speaker further said that a state-of-the-art super-speciality block was being constructed at JLN Hospital at an estimated cost of around ₹190 crore. The facility is expected to strengthen the hospital's capacity to provide advanced medical treatment.
He reiterated that the state government was committed to ensuring quality, accessible and modern healthcare for the public. X-ray facilities had also been made available at all dispensaries in the Ajmer North Assembly constituency, he said.
Devnani also highlighted several development projects being undertaken to improve infrastructure across the Ajmer North constituency. These include a leopard safari, the development of lakes, a science park, a convention centre and a new sports stadium.
In addition, road construction and upgrading projects worth more than ₹100 crore are being undertaken in the area. A major scheme costing ₹270 crore is also being implemented to strengthen the drinking water supply system.
The initiatives are aimed at improving healthcare access, public infrastructure and the overall quality of life for residents of Ajmer.
