Dehradun, October 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met a delegation of international filmmakers on Sunday to discuss the proposed shooting of an international film project based on the legendary British music group The Beatles in the state.

The delegation informed the Chief Minister that the proposed film project, titled CLOVER, is scheduled to be shot in February 2027 at the historic Chaurasi Kutia, popularly known as the Beatles Ashram, in Rishikesh.

The project is being directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Sir Sam Mendes. The film series, titled The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, is being produced by Neal Street Productions for Sony Pictures Entertainment in collaboration with Apple Corps.

The series will comprise four separate films based on the lives and musical journeys of the four members of The Beatles. The films are proposed to be released in cinemas worldwide in April 2028.

According to the delegation, the proposed shoot in Rishikesh will involve more than 100 international crew members and approximately 150 Indian crew members, in addition to local technicians and support personnel. On-ground coordination of the film production in India is being handled by On The Road India.

The project is expected to generate local employment opportunities and provide a boost to hotels, transport services and other businesses in the region.

Chief Minister Dhami said Uttarakhand had established itself as one of India's leading film destinations because of its natural beauty, rich cultural and spiritual heritage, and diverse shooting locations.

He said the state government was providing a favourable environment and necessary facilities to filmmakers under the Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024. The government aims to attract more domestic and international film projects to the state, creating employment opportunities for local artists, technicians and young people.

Dhami highlighted Rishikesh's distinctive global identity as a centre of yoga and spirituality, noting that The Beatles also had a historic association with the city.

He said shooting the international film project in Rishikesh would bring greater global recognition to Uttarakhand's cultural and spiritual heritage while encouraging international tourism.

The delegation that met the Chief Minister included British film producer Alexandra Derbyshire, who has been nominated for a BAFTA award; Indian film producer Dilip Singh Rathore; and supervising location manager Emma, who is associated with the project.

The proposed production is expected to bring international filmmaking activity to Rishikesh and further strengthen Uttarakhand's position as a destination for major film projects.
