Amit Shah Leads BJP’s ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ Padyatra in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Nov 2026 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday led a BJP-organised ‘Maha Padyatra’ in Hyderabad as part of the party’s nationwide campaign to counter the anti-Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign launched by the INDIA bloc.

Shah began the foot march from the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue at Basheerbagh, in the heart of the city, accompanied by several party leaders and hundreds of workers. Holding the national flag, he walked alongside Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, party MPs, MLAs, MLCs and other leaders.

The 1.5-kilometre march, organised under the slogan ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’, is scheduled to conclude at Moazzam Jahi Market, where Shah will address a corner meeting.

The Home Minister is expected to respond to the INDIA bloc’s criticism of the BJP during a rally held at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on Sunday.

Ahead of the padyatra, Shah targeted the Congress in a post on X, alleging that the party was seeking to return to power through actions that threatened democracy.

“Reeling from successive defeats in the elections, the Congress Party is now determined by any means to seize power, even if it means murdering democracy through their anarchic actions,” he said.

Shah added that he would participate in the Hyderabad march to oppose what he described as the Congress’s attempts to undermine democratic institutions. BJP leaders appealed to people to join the march in solidarity with the party’s campaign to safeguard democracy and constitutional institutions.

In view of the event, Hyderabad Traffic Police imposed restrictions across several parts of central Hyderabad. Traffic was diverted at multiple points in busy areas, including Basheerbagh, Nampally, Abids, Jambagh, Moazzam Jahi Market, Koti and Afzal Gunj.

Earlier, shortly after arriving in the city, Shah visited the Bhagyalakshmi temple near the historic Charminar and offered prayers. He was accompanied by Kishan Reddy and Ramchander Rao.

Shah received a warm welcome at Begumpet Airport, where Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Ramchander Rao, BJP MPs and other party leaders were present.

The padyatra forms part of the BJP’s effort to mobilise support against the INDIA bloc’s campaign on SIR and reinforce its message on democracy and constitutional institutions.
