Lunglei, October 2026: The Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP), Laisawral Branch, celebrated the 50th anniversary of its establishment (Golden Jubilee) at Venglai Kawtchhuah on Wednesday. Bunghmun Block Development Officer (BDO) Paul Rokima attended the celebrations as the chief guest.
After unveiling the jubilee memorial stone, chief guest Paul Rokima addressed the gathering and paid tribute to the former and present leaders of the MHIP Laisawral Branch.
He said Mizo women had demonstrated their ability to hold the highest positions in governance and serve in various government departments, proving their capabilities across different fields. He observed that many women had excelled alongside men not only in formal education and competitive examinations but also in professions and business.
Referring to the saying, “Behind every successful man, there is a woman,” he highlighted the achievements and importance of women in society. He also said the notion that women’s intelligence could not take them far was being disproved by the accomplishments of Mizo women.
The Bunghmun BDO urged Mizo women to recognise that they represented the Mizo community not only in India but also across the world, as many were working in different countries.
He said women carried a significant responsibility in shaping how the world perceived Mizoram and its people, and urged them to maintain a positive image of their community.
Describing the MHIP as a valuable and important organisation, Rokima called upon its members to continue working for the welfare and empowerment of Mizo women, promote healthy lifestyles and values, and make sustained efforts to prevent the decline of the Mizo population by encouraging childbirth.
Two-Part Golden Jubilee Celebration

Various special performances were presented, and the chief guest also released a souvenir commemorating the occasion.
A community feast was organised as part of the jubilee celebrations. The programme continued in the evening, with addresses by representatives of the Mizo Upa Pawl (MUP) and the Young Mizo Association (YMA), followed by various entertainment activities.
The MHIP Laisawral Branch was established on February 2, 1976, with Kapdaii as its first president. The branch currently has 150 members.
