New Delhi, October 2026 : Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated the ‘Plant Mandala Rangoli’ at the amphitheatre in Central Park, Connaught Place. During the event, the Chief Minister viewed the plant mandala and interacted with those present. She said the mandala rangoli represents the beautiful and rich tradition of Indian art and culture. This tradition has been brought to life this time through living plants, creating a beautiful blend of art and nature. The mandala, with patterns spreading outward from the centre, is considered a symbol of wholeness and interconnectedness in life through balance and harmony. Bringing it to life with living plants makes this idea even more vibrant and tangible.
Union Minister of State Shri Harsh Malhotra, Cabinet Minister Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh, MLA Shri Ashok Goel and other dignitaries were present at the special event. The Chief Minister said every plant used in the mandala is not merely part of an artistic creation, but also a symbol of the commitment to planting, protecting and nurturing plants, as well as preserving and developing Delhi’s forests and urban green spaces. Just as every element of a mandala comes together to complete a beautiful composition, every plant and green space contributes to creating a healthy environment and improving the quality of life.
She said the ‘Plant Mandala Rangoli’ also expresses the resolve for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and ‘Viksit Delhi’ together. She said the resolve and confidence expressed by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji before the people of the country through the message ‘Hum Karke Rahenge’ (We Will Do It) has been reiterated today through this unique rangoli made with plants. She said this message is not limited to the event, but reflects the collective commitment to move forward by taking development and environmental conservation together.
The Chief Minister said Delhi is not only the national capital, but also home to crores of people and a symbol of India’s diversity and vibrancy. Therefore, a developed Delhi cannot be limited to modern infrastructure and economic progress alone. A developed Delhi will be one where nature, clean air, green spaces and the quality of life of citizens receive equal importance alongside development.
She said that on the occasion of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s 25-year journey of public service and service to the nation, she extends her greetings to the people of Delhi and reiterates her resolve that Delhi will play an important role in the country’s broader journey towards a developed India.
