Governor and Chief Minister pay tributes to former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on his sixth death anniversary

Lucknow, October 2026 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, "Former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan was a mass leader known for his fighting spirit. Through his resolute approach, he gave a new dimension to social consciousness. Fifty years ago, Bihar witnessed the emergence of a young leader who became a strong voice for Dalits and the deprived. The people of Bihar accorded great respect to that voice and elected Ram Vilas ji to Parliament with the most votes. Through Indian politics, he dedicated his life to awakening social consciousness and building an India based on the vision of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar."
Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed a tribute gathering organized in Sushant Golf City on Thursday on the sixth death anniversary of former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
The Chief Minister offered flowers at Ram Vilas Paswan’s portrait and paid his heartfelt tributes. On the occasion, all those present also immersed themselves in a spiritual experience while listening to devotional hymns.
The Chief Minister added, "As a Member of Parliament, I too had the opportunity to work alongside Paswan ji in Parliament for a long period. Ram Vilas Paswan always held India’s traditions in high regard and had deep respect for them. He worked continuously to fulfil his resolve of ensuring justice for Dalits and the deprived and securing their rightful place and dignity in the mainstream of society."
Thanking the Bihar government, the CM said, "Paswan’s death anniversary was being observed there as a national event."
Referring to Ram Vilas Paswan’s firm resolve, the Chief Minister said that he lived his life in accordance with what he believed and said.
Expressing his gratitude to Union Minister Chirag Paswan for organising the event in Uttar Pradesh, the CM assured that the same respect that Ram Vilas Paswan received in Bihar would also be accorded to him in Uttar Pradesh.
The CM said, "While Ram Vilas Paswan’s absence is deeply felt, there is also a sense of satisfaction that Chirag Paswan is working tirelessly to carry forward his mission. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chirag Paswan, as a Union Minister, is taking forward his voice on every platform."
The CM added, "Ram Vilas ji worked to advance the struggle for social justice without discrimination. Whether as a Union Minister in the cabinets of revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi, at election rallies or on other occasions, Ram Vilas ji’s simplicity, affection and goodwill touched everyone’s heart."
