ECI Revises SIR Schedule in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh; Final Voter Rolls to Be Published on November 30

Hyderabad, Oct 2026 : The Election Commission of India (ECI) has once again revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, postponing the publication of the final voter lists in both states to November 30.

Under the revised schedule, the deadline for issuing notices and disposing of claims and objections has been extended to November 26 in Telangana and November 20 in Andhra Pradesh. The changes were made following requests from the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of the two states.

In separate communications, the ECI informed the CEOs about the revised timelines and directed them to immediately communicate the changes to all officials. The Commission has also asked the state election authorities to publicise the revised schedule widely through all available media and inform recognised political parties in writing.

The SIR schedule has been revised several times in both states. Earlier, Telangana was required to complete the notice and claims-and-objections process by November 5, with the final electoral rolls scheduled for publication on November 9. In Andhra Pradesh, the corresponding deadline was October 22, while the final voter lists were originally due on October 30.

According to the latest figures, Telangana had 3,38,26,448 registered voters before the SIR exercise. Of these, 2,64,87,213 submitted their enumeration forms. The remaining 73,39,235 electors were categorised under Absent, Shifted, Death and Duplicate (ASDD) entries and removed from the draft electoral rolls.

As of October 29, a total of 92,81,189 notices out of 92,88,188 generated under the revision exercise had been delivered to voters, while 6,999 notices were pending delivery. Hearings had been completed for 92,08,443 notices.

The election authorities have cleared 2,59,22,684 voter names for inclusion in Telangana's final electoral roll. This includes 59,31,395 electors whose logical discrepancies were cleared and 30,64,168 voters who were not mapped to the 2002 electoral rolls. Meanwhile, 50,690 electors were found ineligible for inclusion in the final list.

In Andhra Pradesh, hearings have been completed for 44,28,858 notices issued during the SIR process. Of these, 42,55,630 electors have been cleared for inclusion in the final voter list, while 1,73,662 were found ineligible.

With the revised timeline, election authorities in both states will have additional time to complete the verification of voter details, examine claims and objections, and finalise the electoral rolls before their publication on November 30.
