Lucknow, October 2026 : Over the past nine years, UP's basic education system has emphasized efforts to strengthen schools and increase teacher availability. After 2017, under the Yogi government, steps were taken to ensure schools had the required number of teachers. This has resulted in a significant increase in the number of teachers in composite schools.

According to the data, the number of teachers in composite schools across the state was only 918 in 2016-17, rising to 1,85,408 in 2025-26. This means that the number of teachers in composite schools increased by approximately 1.84 lakh over nine years. This change also reflects the integration of primary and upper primary schools, their operation in the new format, and increased teacher availability.

With the integration of primary and upper primary schools in the state, school campuses have been strengthened as composite schools. This initiative has strengthened the teaching system and increased the number of teachers by 26,488, promoting better utilization of educational resources.

Yogi government has also taken several steps in the interest of teachers. It has made facilities such as free cashless medical treatment of up to Rs. 5 lakh, regular training at an expenditure of Rs. 58 crore (2026-27), easier access to leave and salary through the Manav Sampada Portal, and two tablets in each school to provide support available. In this way, the Yogi government has strengthened the state's education system while prioritizing teachers' welfare. The foundation for a developed state has also been strengthened.

Meanwhile, the number of composite schools has increased significantly through the Yogi government's initiatives. According to U-DISE data, the state had 225 composite schools in 2017-18, and this number rose to 24,605 in 2025-26. During this period, the number of schools increased by 24,380. These schools provide free education from Bal Vatika to Class 8 within a single campus. This enables students to continue their education at higher levels. At the same time, the school emphasizes integrating primary and upper primary education to use educational resources more effectively.
