Chief Minister Said: Refund and Registration Processes Will Become Easier, Businesses Will Benefit from Ease of Doing Business
New Delhi, October 2026 : Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta on Thursday participated in the 57th GST Council meeting held at Bharat Mandapam. Welcoming various reforms proposed by the GST Council, the Chief Minister said that the objective of these reforms is to develop a tax regime in the country that is transparent, efficient, responsive, and business-friendly. Senior officials from the Finance and Tax Department were also present at the meeting alongside the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta stated that in line with the spirit of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas', several important reforms aimed at making the GST system simpler and more convenient for taxpayers were discussed in the GST Council meeting. She said that the automation of the refund process will ensure that business owners receive their money on time, which will also enhance the competitiveness of exporters. At the same time, the system of automated cancellation of registration will provide relief from unnecessary delays to taxpayers closing their businesses.
The Chief Minister said that the GST registration process is also being simplified. This will make registration smoother for small sellers operating on e-commerce platforms as well. She noted that steps such as removing the power of arrest under GST and rationalizing prosecution provisions will create a favorable environment for business in the country. These reforms will make doing business in the country easier and will render the GST system simpler and more taxpayer-friendly.
Extending her best wishes to the residents of Delhi, Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta expressed hope that these positive and progressive changes being introduced by the GST Council will usher in a new era of prosperity and dynamism in Delhi's economic sector. She added that these reforms will also contribute significantly toward achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
