Lord Ram has given us such ideals which are incomparable in the history of humanity: PM
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today participated in Vijaya Dashami celebrations in Delhi. Addressing the Vijayadashami celebrations at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, the Prime Minister commenced his address by extending his warmest festive wishes to the entire nation on the auspicious occasion. "I extend my heartfelt greetings of Vijayadashami to all the countrymen,” remarked Shri Modi.
Describing how every village and city across India is immersed in the staging of Ramlilas, the Prime Minister highlighted the tradition of keeping Lord Ram’s ideals alive, proclaiming the end of tyranny and terror, and upholding the victory of eternal truth over falsehood. He invited the gathering to join him in chanting praises to the deity as citizens nationwide celebrate the triumph of righteousness over unrighteousness. "For us, this is not merely a festival; this is the life energy of India,” asserted PM Modi.
Reflecting on the millennia-old devotion of India’s culture and ancestors toward Lord Shri Ram, the Prime Minister noted that this deep reverence extends far beyond his victory over the demon king Ravana. He emphasized that the enduring faith of the nation is anchored in the timeless values Lord Ram imparted to the world. "Lord Ram has given us such ideals which are incomparable in the history of humanity,” observed Shri Modi.
Recalling the immense hardships Lord Shri Ram faced without ever forsaking truth and morality, the Prime Minister quoted the Sanskrit verse to illustrate his equanimity during both his royal coronation and his forest exile. He highlighted how Lord Ram upheld righteousness through every crisis, embraced Nishadraj, and honored Mother Shabari during his time in the forest. "He established benchmarks of mercy, compassion, love, and harmony,” remarked PM Modi.
Detailing the establishment of Ramrajya upon Lord Ram's return as the King of Ayodhya, the Prime Minister described it as the ultimate benchmark of non-discriminatory governance where everyone receives justice and equal opportunity, and where power serves public welfare rather than authority, as immortalized in Goswami Tulsidas’s verse “Daihik Daivik Bhautik Tapa, Ram Raj Nahin Kahuhi Byapa.” He urged the administration to follow these ideals of Maryada Purushottam by treating the public as divine under the mantra of Nagrik Devo Bhava. "We have to keep the service of the poor and the deprived paramount,” asserted Shri Modi.
Drawing profound lessons of self-reliance from Lord Ram’s journey across the ocean to Lanka, the Prime Minister explained that instead of relying on others during a crisis, Lord Ram awakened collective public participation (Janbhagidari) and pooled available resources to achieve the impossible through faith, capability, and unwavering resolve. He called upon citizens to adopt this fundamental mantra of hard work and resourcefulness to fulfill public aspirations and achieve the goals of a Viksit Bharat and an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. "Lord Ram taught us that the difficulties on the path cannot stop our journey,” affirmed PM Modi.
Linking national progress to a strong sense of self-respect rooted in cultural heritage, the Prime Minister detailed the government's active campaign to preserve India's identity by repatriating over 650 ancient idols over the past 12 years. He also celebrated the growing global recognition of India's cultural centers, noting the inclusion of numerous domestic sites on the UNESCO World Heritage list and the inscription of Deepavali on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list last year through the collective willpower of crores of Indians. "We have to continue working with this same dedication in the future,” noted Shri Modi.
Invoking the courageous spirit of Vijayadashami that guarantees triumph when standing with truth and humanity, the Prime Minister quoted the Vedic mantra “Samano Mantrah Samitih Samani” to urge all national institutions and political parties to unite in the national interest. He called upon citizens to adopt a 'Nation First' pledge to jointly identify and defeat the enemies of Maa Bharati, specifically forces that harm national honor, divide society, and harbor hatred toward Indian culture. "When we stand with truth and humanity, then in the end, victory is ours,” asserted PM Modi.
Concluding his address with deep conviction, the Prime Minister recalled the sacred resolutions taken during the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Ayodhya temple and extended his final Dussehra greetings alongside chants of Jai Siya Ram and Bharat Mata Ki Jai. He expressed absolute confidence in realizing the nation's spiritual and developmental vision. "The vision of ‘Ram Se Rashtra’ and ‘Dev Se Desh’ that we have conceived, we will definitely fulfill it,” affirmed Shri Modi.
