New Delhi, Oct 2026 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday urged Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to expedite approvals and work relating to high-speed rail corridors and several new railway projects proposed for the state.
During a meeting at Rail Bhavan in New Delhi, the Chief Minister said the state government had reviewed the Centre’s proposals for the Hyderabad–Pune, Hyderabad–Bengaluru and Hyderabad–Chennai high-speed rail corridors and submitted revised proposals with suggestions.
Revanth Reddy clarified that land acquisition for the three corridors had not yet begun. He said the process would commence only after the Centre approved the alignments and requested that the alignment process be completed at the earliest.
The meeting also discussed the immediate sanction of a new 130-km railway line between Vikarabad and Krishna. The Chief Minister informed Vaishnaw that large limestone deposits had been discovered near Tekalkode in Vikarabad district. Another key proposal discussed was the establishment of a mega coaching and freight maintenance depot at Anantaram village, near Mahabubabad. The project, proposed by South Central Railway, was described as a prestigious initiative for the state.
Revanth Reddy informed the Union Minister that Telangana had already agreed to hand over 409 acres required for the depot to the Railways. He urged Vaishnaw to expedite the necessary approvals.
