Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav participated in the Balram Krishi Mahotsav organised in Shajapur district through video conferencing from Bodh Gaya, Bihar, on Saturday. He interacted with farmers and discussed agricultural development and farmers’ welfare.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Shajapur is making steady progress in agriculture, innovation and development. The district is known for crops such as onion, potato and soybean, and is also emerging as a centre for agro-based industries and solar energy. He said that proposed road and expressway projects would accelerate the district’s development and improve farmers’ and local traders’ access to markets.
As part of ‘Krishak Kalyan Varsh’, the state government is promoting irrigation, electricity, solar pumps, storage and food processing and agro-based industries to make agriculture more profitable. Efforts are also being made to provide four times the prescribed compensation for land acquired for new roads, ensure daytime electricity supply, encourage solar pumps, secure fair prices for agricultural produce and strengthen storage facilities. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasised natural farming and modern agricultural technologies, noting that farmers are being selected for natural farming initiatives in the district and Krishi Sakhis are being trained. He urged farmers to diversify their income by taking up animal husbandry, dairy farming, floriculture, fisheries and food processing alongside traditional agriculture.
Boost to Dairy Farming and Food Processing
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Sanchi Milk Union is being strengthened to promote milk production. Financial assistance is being provided per cow per day to support the operation of gaushalas. Competitions and award schemes will also be introduced to encourage animal husbandry. Efforts are underway to establish potato and onion processing facilities, improve storage infrastructure and set up food parks to help farmers secure better prices for their produce.
Bus Services to Reach Villages under Chief Minister Sugam Parivahan Bus Scheme
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the state government would extend bus services to villages through the Chief Minister Sugam Parivahan Bus Scheme to improve rural transport connectivity. The government is also facilitating free registration of rural families’ residential properties and working to provide farmers with solar-powered electricity.
Government Continuously Taking Decisions in Farmers’ Interests
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted wheat procurement at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) with a bonus and the Bhavantar Yojana as key measures taken in farmers’ interests. He said the government is implementing welfare schemes to boost farm incomes, expand irrigation and strengthen the agricultural sector.
Balram Krishi Mahotsav Connects Farmers with New Technologies and Innovations
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Balram Krishi Mahotsav is an important platform for familiarising farmers with changes in agriculture, modern technologies and innovations. Such events provide opportunities to gain new knowledge, understand advanced farming practices and learn about the use of emerging technologies in agriculture. Through his interaction with farmers, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening agriculture and ensuring farmers’ prosperity. He welcomed the farmers of Shajapur and other participants, urging them to contribute actively to the district’s development.
Addressing the gathering, Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Bank Maryadit (Apex Bank), Bhopal, Administrator Shri Mahendra Singh Yadav said that villages are the soul of India and farmers are the foundation of the country’s prosperity. He said agriculture, animal husbandry and rural development are being prioritised under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. He also highlighted the direct financial assistance provided to farmers through the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi.
MLA Shri Arun Bhimawad said the Bhagwan Balram Krishi Mahotsav is being organised in every district of the state under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. He described the event as an important initiative for improving farming practices and increasing farmers’ incomes in agriculture-oriented Shajapur district.
