Surveys to Improve Quality and Effectiveness of Government Schemes: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, October 2026: Surveys will help improve the reach, effectiveness and quality of implementation of government schemes in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday.

He emphasised the need to expand the coverage of government schemes, ensure that their benefits reach more citizens and assess their effectiveness through systematic surveys. Such exercises would not only strengthen implementation but also bring qualitative improvements in the delivery of public services, he said.

Fadnavis was speaking at a meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House under his chairmanship to review various state government schemes and post-implementation surveys. The surveys are being conducted by Axis My India, an agency appointed by the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations.

Minister for Electronics, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Cultural Affairs Ashish Shelar attended the meeting through video conferencing.

The Chief Minister said surveys of various government schemes were being carried out in coordination with the concerned departments. The exercise includes examining how the schemes function, analysing beneficiary data, assessing the outcomes achieved and identifying areas requiring further improvement.

He said the findings could help the government extend the benefits of its schemes to a larger section of the population.

Information gathered through the surveys should not remain limited to data collection but should be used to bring tangible improvements in the functioning of government programmes, he stressed.

The findings would help assess the current status of schemes, identify difficulties in reaching beneficiaries and determine the corrective measures needed to achieve the intended outcomes. Fadnavis urged the field offices of the concerned departments to extend the necessary cooperation.

Surveys to build a reliable database

Fadnavis said the surveys would provide accurate information about government schemes and help the administration understand public response to them.

The exercise would also facilitate the creation of a reliable database, enabling the government to improve access to welfare benefits and ensure that more eligible citizens benefit from its programmes.

He said credible survey findings would strengthen public confidence in government schemes, provide the state administration with dependable information and support qualitative improvements in implementation.

Role of field offices crucial

The Chief Minister underlined the importance of field-level offices in expanding the coverage of schemes and making their implementation smoother.

He said officers working on the ground should cooperate in collecting and analysing information, maintain coordination throughout the process and help create an enabling environment for effective implementation.

Fadnavis expressed confidence that better outcomes could be achieved if government departments and the agency conducting the surveys worked together with a shared commitment.

He said the appropriate use of data, coordinated working methods and practical experience gained at the field level could help improve administrative functioning.

These efforts, he added, would make government schemes more effective and bring qualitative changes in the delivery of their benefits to citizens.

State Chief Commissioner for Right to Public Services Manukumar Shrivastava, Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, and additional chief secretaries and principal secretaries from various departments attended the meeting.

Divisional commissioners, district collectors, chief executive officers of district councils and other district-level officials participated through video conferencing.
