Telangana Rakshana Sena Names Dr. Nalamas Srikanth Goud for Graduate MLC Polls

Hyderabad, Oct 2026 : The Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS), led by Kalvakuntla Kavitha, has announced Dr. Nalamas Srikanth Goud as its candidate for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates’ constituency in the upcoming Telangana Legislative Council elections.

Kavitha, president of the party, finalised Srikanth Goud’s candidature on Tuesday for one of the two Graduate MLC seats scheduled to go to polls in early 2027. She also appointed senior party leader Syed Ismail as the state party observer to coordinate election-related activities.

The elections will mark the first electoral contest for the Telangana Rakshana Sena, which Kavitha launched in April 2026. She had earlier quit the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the party led by her father and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, following her suspension from the organisation.

The TRS is the second political party to announce its candidate for the biennial elections to the two Graduates’ constituencies. The ruling Congress has already declared its nominees for both seats.

Sama Rammohan Reddy will contest from the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Graduates’ constituency, while Ramreddy Sarvotham Reddy has been named the Congress candidate for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda seat.

The BRS and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are yet to announce their candidates. The BJP began consultations last week to shortlist three prospective candidates for each constituency. The shortlisted names will be forwarded to the party’s central leadership for a final decision.

Meanwhile, the voter enrolment process for the two Graduates’ constituencies is underway. The exercise began following the issuance of a public notice under Rule 31(3) of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.

The electoral rolls are being prepared afresh, with November 1, 2026, set as the qualifying date. Graduates who were registered as voters previously must also complete the registration process again.

According to the Election Commission of India, the two vacancies in the Telangana Legislative Council are due in March 2027 and will be filled through biennial elections.

As per the announced schedule, draft electoral rolls will be published on November 25, 2026, while the final rolls are scheduled for publication on December 30, 2026.

With the electoral roll revision underway and parties beginning candidate selection, preparations for the Graduate MLC elections are gathering pace across the two constituencies.
