₹122 Crore for Gairsain Water Supply Dam Project; ₹30 Crore Earmarked for Haridwar-Ganga Corridor

The Uttarakhand government has focused on developing infrastructure for religious and cultural events, drinking water facilities and other essential public amenities in its supplementary budget for the financial year 2026-27.

An overall provision of approximately ₹290 crore has been proposed under various grants for infrastructure facilities required for preparations for the upcoming Divya Kumbh.

As part of the preparations for the Kumbh in Haridwar, the Haridwar-Ganga Corridor project has also been included in the supplementary budget. An allocation of ₹30 crore has been proposed under capital expenditure to ensure the timely completion of works under the project.

The budget also provides ₹20 crore under capital expenditure for arrangements related to the Nanda Raj Jat Yatra, an important religious and cultural pilgrimage in Uttarakhand. The journey holds a special place in the state's cultural heritage, and the supplementary budget has earmarked funds for the necessary arrangements.

An important drinking water project in Gairsain, the state's summer capital, has also received attention in the supplementary budget. An allocation of ₹122 crore has been proposed for the Gairsain Water Supply Dam Project. The project is considered significant in view of drinking water availability and future requirements in the state's hilly regions.

In the drinking water sector, ₹300 crore has been earmarked under the Jal Jeevan Mission to meet various requirements, including pending payments to contractors. Additionally, approximately ₹110 crore has been proposed for the KfW project of the Drinking Water Department.

The budget also addresses the needs of disaster-prone areas across the state. Approximately ₹48 crore has been proposed for essential works in Joshimath and other locations affected by land subsidence.

Through these provisions, the supplementary budget aims to provide financial support for infrastructure required for major religious and cultural events while allocating resources for drinking water projects and disaster-related works in Gairsain and other parts of Uttarakhand.

The proposed allocations seek to strengthen essential infrastructure, improve public amenities and support the state's preparations for significant religious gatherings and pilgrimage events.
