Book chronicles the legendary shooter’s sporting career, struggles and contribution to Indian shooting
Dehradun, October 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday released the book ‘Maverick Jaspal: The Man Who Changed Indian Shooting’, which chronicles the life, achievements and contribution of renowned shooter Jaspal Rana to Indian shooting.
Family members of the late Jaspal Rana, a celebrated shooter and prominent figure in Indian sports, met Dhami at the Chief Minister’s residence. Those present included Rana’s wife, Reena Rana, son Yuvraj Rana and daughter Devanshi Rana. They presented the Chief Minister with a copy of the book, following which he formally released it.
Praising Jaspal Rana’s sporting achievements, Dhami said the shooter had played a significant role in giving Indian shooting a distinct identity through his talent, hard work, discipline and determination.
He said Rana’s accomplishments continued to inspire young people across the country and demonstrated that consistent practice, dedication and self-confidence could help individuals achieve their goals.
The Chief Minister noted that Rana had not only established a distinctive identity in shooting but had also brought pride and recognition to Uttarakhand. His life and sporting journey, Dhami said, offered valuable lessons to young athletes about remaining committed to their ambitions and striving for excellence at national and international levels.
Dhami expressed confidence that ‘Maverick Jaspal: The Man Who Changed Indian Shooting’ would help readers, particularly aspiring sportspersons, understand Rana’s experiences, struggles and achievements.
He congratulated the family for bringing the book to readers and preserving the legacy of a sportsperson whose contribution to Indian shooting continues to inspire future generations.
