New Delhi, Oct 2026 : A delegation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) visited a hospital on Thursday and met victims injured in the Seemapuri building collapse, seeking strict action against those responsible for the incident.
The delegation was led by AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bhardwaj and included party vice-presidents Sanjeev Jha and Kuldeep Kumar, along with local MLA Veer Singh Dhingan. The leaders spoke to the injured and gathered details about the circumstances surrounding the building collapse.
Bhardwaj demanded that the BJP-led Delhi government take strict action against those responsible for the incident. He alleged that more than 24 hours after the collapse, the rescue operation had still not been completed, describing it as a failure of the government.
He also alleged that despite eight people, including three children, losing their lives in the incident, neither the Chief Minister, any minister nor any BJP MP had visited the victims.
Bhardwaj said MLA Veer Singh Dhingan had been present at the site since Wednesday. He questioned the absence of senior government representatives and said the lack of visits by the Chief Minister, ministers or BJP MPs was a matter of concern.
He further alleged that Delhi had witnessed repeated building collapses, fires and other accidents in recent months. Comparing the incident with the Satya Niketan building collapse, in which seven people were killed, Bhardwaj alleged that the government had shown greater attention to that incident because of political considerations surrounding the DUSU elections.
Bhardwaj said eight people had died in the Seemapuri incident and that AAP representatives had met some of the injured. He criticised the alleged absence of senior government representatives and questioned the government’s response to the tragedy.
The AAP leader demanded compensation of at least Rs 10 lakh each for the families of those who died in the collapse and financial assistance for the injured. He said providing compensation to victims of such incidents was the responsibility of the government.
Bhardwaj also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that while the Prime Minister often expresses concern over accidents in other parts of the world through social media, there had been no similar response to the Seemapuri tragedy.
In a post on X, Bhardwaj said a series of accidents had occurred in Delhi and alleged that the absence of the Chief Minister, a minister and the Mayor at the Seemapuri site reflected the government’s lack of sensitivity towards the victims.
He also reiterated his criticism of the government’s response to the Satya Niketan building collapse, alleging that political considerations had influenced the attention given to that incident.
The AAP delegation said it would continue to raise the concerns of the victims and their families and press for accountability, compensation and adequate assistance for those injured in the Seemapuri building collapse.
