CM distributes house-site regularisation pattas to 26,000 families in Vijayawada, says coalition government is working to strengthen welfare, development and land rights
Vijayawada, Sept 2026 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said the state government has distributed land worth Rs 52,000 crore to poor families as part of its efforts to provide secure land rights and strengthen their economic position.
Naidu distributed house-site regularisation pattas to 26,000 families in Vijayawada under the ‘Pedalaku Pattabhishekam’ programme. He said the initiative was aimed at addressing the difficulties faced by poor families over several decades and providing them legal rights over the land they occupy.
The Chief Minister said land titles had earlier been distributed to 28,000 beneficiaries in Visakhapatnam and 5,800 families in Mangalagiri. With the latest distribution in Vijayawada, the total number of poor beneficiaries receiving land titles has reached around 60,000.
“I consider it my good fortune to distribute land titles to a total of 60,000 poor people,” Naidu said.
According to the Chief Minister, the value of the land being distributed in Vijayawada is estimated at Rs 28,112 crore. Each beneficiary has received an average plot measuring 130 square yards, with the value of individual plots ranging between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 2 crore.
Naidu described the programme as a measure aimed at safeguarding the self-respect of poor families and said the coalition government was working to fulfil promises made during the elections.
He said Andhra Pradesh was moving ahead with development and welfare initiatives under what he described as a “double-engine government”. Naidu claimed that the state, which he alleged had suffered during the previous administration, was being brought back on the development track.
Recalling the vision of TDP founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao, Naidu said “food, shelter and clothing for the poor” had long been a central focus of the party’s welfare philosophy.
The Chief Minister also criticised the previous YSRCP government over land-related issues between 2019 and 2024. He alleged that property disputes had increased and claimed that photographs were placed on land title passbooks. He also criticised the implementation of the Land Titling Act.
Naidu said the coalition government was undertaking a re-survey of lands across Andhra Pradesh and issuing Pattadar passbooks bearing the official state emblem. He alleged that the previous government had spent Rs 800 crore on painting images on survey stones.
The Chief Minister said the government was working to establish a land administration system free from disputes and stressed the need to maintain a balance between welfare, development and wealth creation.
He said the government had already spent Rs 1.50 lakh crore on development works and described development and welfare as the “two eyes” of the coalition government.
Naidu also announced plans to complete 36 irrigation projects at a cost of Rs 35,000 crore over the next three years. He said the government aimed to ensure abundant water availability from the Krishna and Godavari rivers by the time of the 2028 Krishna Pushkaralu.
