New Delhi, October 2026 : Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan on Sunday criticised Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his controversial remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing it as regrettable and stressing the need for decorum in political discourse.
Kharge triggered a controversy with his remark, “Modi ka baap bhi jayega,” during an event in Patna organised to mark the birth anniversary of Bihar’s first Chief Minister, Shrikrishna Singh.
During Kharge’s address, amid an uproar, a person present at the event reportedly said that Modi would not go anywhere. Responding to the remark, the Congress president made the controversial statement, drawing criticism from political leaders.
Reacting on social media platform X, Paswan said Bihar was the cradle of civilisation and termed Kharge’s comment against the Prime Minister, made on the soil of Bihar, regrettable.
Paswan emphasised that ideological differences were natural in a democracy, but public representatives must maintain the dignity of their language and respect the office held by others.
“In a democracy, ideological differences are natural, but it is essential to maintain the decorum of language in public life and respect the dignity of the position,” Paswan said.
He added that political opposition should be grounded in facts and reasoning rather than personal remarks, urging leaders to uphold standards of public discourse despite their political differences.
