Hyderabad, Nov 2026 : Megastar Chiranjeevi, who recently expressed concern on social media over degrading and morphed videos targeting artists, took the issue to the Union government on Monday by meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Chiranjeevi’s son and popular actor Ram Charan was also present during the meeting.
Sources close to the actors said Chiranjeevi had sought an appointment to personally explain the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) and deepfake technologies, highlighting the serious threat they pose to artists’ rights, dignity and creative content.
Taking his concerns beyond social media, Chiranjeevi reportedly urged the government to introduce stronger safeguards and ensure strict action against such misuse on behalf of the film fraternity.
According to the sources, Home Minister Amit Shah heard the concerns with understanding and assured the actors that the government would examine the matter urgently. He reportedly said efforts would be made to implement stronger safeguards and strict penalties against the misuse of AI and deepfake technology.
Shah advised Chiranjeevi to submit a written representation outlining the concerns and entrusted Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy with coordinating the matter.
Expressing gratitude for the Home Minister’s response, Chiranjeevi described the assurance as an encouraging step for the film fraternity. He expressed hope that the discussions would lead to meaningful protections for artists and their creative work.
Ram Charan later shared details of the meeting on his Instagram page, expressing appreciation for the Home Minister’s response.
“Honoured to meet the Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @amitshahofficial Ji along with my father Shri @chiranjeevikonidela garu today. I’m encouraged by his understanding and positive response to our concerns about the growing misuse of AI and deepfake technologies and the serious impact they have on artists and our industry,” Ram Charan wrote.

The meeting follows Chiranjeevi’s recent public remarks highlighting the growing concern over manipulated and objectionable content targeting artists. The actors’ appeal seeks to bring greater attention to the potential harm caused by deepfakes and the need for measures to protect individuals and creative professionals from their misuse.
