Bhopal, Oct 2026 : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav is pursuing the goal of the state’s overall development, with a strong focus on urban infrastructure. His government aims to transform the direction and character of urban development through planned growth and modern infrastructure.

Under his leadership, the Urban Development and Housing Department will organise Urban Growth Conclave 2.0 at the Brilliant Convention Centre in Indore on October 28. The conclave will deliberate on opportunities in urban development, investment promotion, modern urban infrastructure, digital governance, affordable housing and water security. Chief Minister Dr Yadav will attend the event.

Urban Development and Housing Department Commissioner Sanket Bhondve said the conclave would serve as an important platform for making Madhya Pradesh’s cities modern, better equipped with civic amenities and more attractive for investment. It will promote urban development projects, policy initiatives and innovation-driven solutions, with particular emphasis on increasing the participation of investors and development partners in urban infrastructure projects.

Foundation Stones and Inauguration of Urban Projects

During the conclave, Chief Minister Dr Yadav will lay foundation stones for and inaugurate various urban development projects across the state. These include housing constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), redevelopment and densification projects, compressed biogas plants, water supply systems, sewerage works and other urban infrastructure initiatives.

The projects aim to expand basic amenities, meet housing requirements and improve citizens’ quality of life. The government is focusing on strengthening urban infrastructure and ensuring planned development to meet the needs of a growing urban population.

New Initiatives in Affordable Housing and Water Security

Dr Yadav will release the draft of the Madhya Pradesh Urban Affordable Housing and Habitat Policy, 2026. The policy aims to increase the availability of affordable housing and encourage private investment in the housing sector. It will focus on rental housing, redevelopment, better utilisation of government land and modern urban planning.

The draft of the Madhya Pradesh Treated Wastewater Recycling and Reuse Policy, 2026 will also be released. The policy seeks to encourage the reuse of treated wastewater in industries, construction, landscaping and other non-potable applications, reducing dependence on freshwater sources.

Bhondve said affordable housing and effective water resource management were essential to meeting future urban needs. The proposed policies would promote housing availability, private-sector participation and alternative sources of water.

Indore Economic Region Development Plan

The Indore Economic Region report, prepared under NITI Aayog’s City Economic Region initiative, will be released at the conclave. Covering eight districts, the report outlines a long-term framework for regional economic growth, industrial expansion, housing, transport, logistics and employment generation.

The plan will focus on growth corridors, new townships and planned urban expansion, alongside coordinated infrastructure and transport planning.

The conclave will also showcase investment opportunities in projects such as Tortoise City, Central Vista Bhopal, the Hukumchand Mill redevelopment, Ekai City, Ujjain’s Temple Bond projects, Chitrakoot development and floating solar initiatives.

One-to-One Meetings with Investors

Chief Minister Dr Yadav will hold one-to-one meetings with selected investors and industry representatives to discuss investment and collaboration opportunities in housing, urban infrastructure, renewable energy, water management and electric mobility.

The conclave aims to explore new financing options for infrastructure development and encourage financial institutions and private investors to participate in ongoing and proposed projects.

Focus on Digital Governance and Modern Urban Planning

Discussions will also cover the use of digital technology to make urban governance more transparent, efficient and citizen-centric. Experts will deliberate on modern planning tools, including densification, redevelopment, transit-oriented development and transferable development rights.

Climate-resilient cities, water security, waste-to-resource initiatives and the circular economy will also feature in discussions on sustainable urban development.
