- CM chairs meeting of Himachal Pradesh Rajput Welfare Board
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today chaired a meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Rajput Welfare Board here and said that the state government was working with commitment for the welfare of every section of society. He said that over the past three and a half years, several schemes have been formulated and implemented on the ground in this direction and efforts were being made to ensure that their benefits reach all eligible persons.
Sh. Sukhu said that the state government was going to launch the‘Mukhyamantri Ka Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana’in the state from 2nd October, 2026. Under the scheme, around2 lakh extremely poor familieswill be provided300 units of free electricity, whilewomen will receive Rs. 1,500 per month. He said that 90,000 of these families have so far not received benefits under any government scheme.
The Chief Minister said that the state government was promoting natural farming in Himachal Pradesh. The state government was providing Minimum Support Price (MSP) on agricultural produce obtained though natural farming. He said that the government was providing an MSP ofRs. 80 per kg for wheat, Rs. 50 per kg for maize and Rs. 150 per kg for raw turmeric. He added that, for the first time, an MSP ofRs. 30 per kg for gingerwas also being provided. He said that among the states, Himachal Pradesh was providing the highest support price for milk as well. Cow milk is being procured atRs. 61 per litre, while buffalo milk is being procured atRs. 71 per litre.
He said that the state government has launched theDr. Y. S. Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojnafor meritorious students, under which loans of up toRs. 20 lakh at an interest rate of one per centwere being provided for higher education. He said that the government has also increased the annual family income eligibility limit under the scheme fromRs. 4 lakh to Rs. 12 lakh, so that more people could avail benefits.
Sh. Sukhu said that theIndira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojanahas been launched to ensure that children of widowed women do not remain deprived of education. Under the scheme, eligible children up to the age of18 yearsof widows and parents with disabilities are being providedRs.1,000 per month. In addition, for children between18 and 27 years of age, the state government is bearing the cost of higher education in government educational institutions within Himachal Pradesh as well as in other states.
He said that under theHome Stay Scheme, the state government was providing interest subsidy of4 per cent in rural areas, 3 per cent in urban areas and 5 per cent in tribal areas. He said that this was helping promote economic activities in the state and strengthen the financial condition of the people.
Deputy Chief WhipKewal Singh Pathania, Chief SecretaryK. K. Pant, official and non-official members of the Board, administrative secretaries and heads of the departments were present at the meeting.
