Pune, November 2026: The state government is prioritising relief for farmers facing financial difficulties, along with providing irrigation water, reliable daytime electricity, modern agricultural technology and access to markets. Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar said the government was committed to resolving farmers' problems, emphasising that agriculture and the rural economy could survive only if farmers remained economically viable.
She was speaking after inaugurating the 20th branch of Rajgurunagar Cooperative Bank in Chakan, dedicating various development works in the Shri Chakreshwar Temple परिसर, and virtually inaugurating a 5 MW solar power project at Kadus-Panmandwadi under the Chief Minister's Solar Agricultural Feeder Scheme, along with a police assistance centre.
MLA Babaji Kale, former MLA Dilip Mohite Patil, Municipal Council President Manisha Gore, Rajgurunagar Cooperative Bank Chairman Arun Thigale, Vice-Chairman Sachin Manjare, Zilla Parishad member Ganesh Bhotre and Sameer Supe were present on the occasion.
Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar said that benefits under the Ahilyadevi Farmer Loan Waiver Scheme had been transferred to farmers' accounts across the state, including those in Pune district.
"Farmers are at the centre of our economy. If farmers survive, agriculture will survive, and if agriculture survives, the rural economy will become stronger. Therefore, along with financial assistance, it is important to provide farmers with water, daytime electricity, modern technology and market facilities," she said.
She added that several parts of the state were facing drought-like conditions, making it necessary to plan drinking water supplies carefully and ensure judicious use of water. She also appealed to everyone to cooperate in ensuring the availability of fodder.
Solar Project to Provide Daytime Electricity to Farmers in 19 Villages
The 5 MW solar power project at Kadus-Panmandwadi will provide reliable daytime electricity for agricultural purposes to farmers in approximately 19 villages in the region.
The project was approved by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar under the Chief Minister's Solar Agricultural Feeder Scheme. Sunetra Pawar expressed satisfaction that a project envisioned by Ajit Pawar was now becoming a reality.
She said the availability of daytime electricity would reduce the need for farmers to visit their fields at night, thereby helping minimise the risk of encounters with leopards and other wild animals. The project would also help address electricity supply-related difficulties faced by farmers.
Special Focus on the Development of Khed Taluka
Khed taluka is important from the industrial, commercial, educational and agricultural perspectives. Ajit Pawar had consistently paid special attention to the development of the region, ensuring the availability of funds for infrastructure projects while emphasising quality and timely completion.
The state government is committed to continuing the development initiatives outlined by him and working towards the overall development of Khed taluka.
The government is prioritising the implementation of the Nashik Phata-Rajgurunagar elevated corridor project to resolve traffic congestion in the Chakan area. Efforts are also underway to extend metro connectivity to Chakan.
A task force has been constituted under the chairmanship of the District Collector to address local issues. The development of the Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur road is also being prioritised.
Chakan is a major industrial hub hosting several international companies. However, the region continues to face challenges relating to traffic congestion, roads and other infrastructure facilities.
Sunetra Pawar assured that efforts would continue to address these issues, fulfil the expectations of Chakan residents and accelerate the development of the region.
